Dr Steelhammer (Vladimir) and Dr Iron Fist (Vitali)

are great nicks for a heavyweight fighter with bone-crushing power and a Ph.D

a great fan-given nick: James "bone crusher" Smith, a heavyweight in the mid-80's; in his title fight with Mike Tyson he held Tyson so much that he became James "bone hugger" Smith

beyond that, i think you have to go back 100 years; then every fighter had a great one.

here's a couple of my favorites:

Fireman Jim Flynn (KO'd Jack Dempsey)

Gunboat Smith (a HW campaigning from 1910 to about 1918

    Sweet Pea Whitaker.

Has a great back story: Pernell was called 'Pete' by his friends and he fought in a national tournament in his hometown and was dominating (no surprise) and the crowd started chanting "Sweet Pete" ... and a sports writer misunderstood and thought they were chanting Sweet Pea. Used it in his story and it stuck.
