A lot of people don’t take into account that prime Kerr DOMINATED The Submission Championships (ADCC) being a WHITE BELT in BJJ. lol Granted he was a world class freestyle wrestler but still. I don’t think it’s been done since. This content is protected
Kerr was always potentially great in MMA, but he never actually managed it. I know he was hyped as the best in the world but I don't think he ever was, I don't think he was ever better than Vovanchyn or Coleman. Wins over Barnett and Ricco in the amateurs show that his ground game was immense, and if no striking was allowed he'd be a real force, but of course in MMA it isn't just about the ground game. For me the Kerr that actually existed just cannot be classed as one of the best ever heavyweights. I wouldn't favour him over Coleman, Frye, Randleman, Mir, Lesnar or any of the other fringe greats. Tim Sylvia, Arlovski, that's the kind a level I put him at.
Good stuff. Wish it was just the two of them talking though, not the constantly interjecting nobody nobody gives a **** about Went on to watch Smashing Machine again after this. Similar thing - amazing doc, but could have done without the boring ***** nobody gives a toss about Moral of the story - learn to interview like Hannibal and keep bitches out of documentaries
Here's a good read on Mark https://www.si.com/mma/2015/05/21/mark-kerr-former-mma-champ-reflects-on-career-future
Barnett being Barnett, always very respectful and great to listen to, cool dude. Kerr as well. Have to look up some of his old fights
Kerr did very well dominating Barnett on the ground. Give him a mentality of anyone with true fighting grit and he could have been the goat. Fedor's sambo isn't as good as his submission wrestling, but he sure could take a shot better.
