Didn't know this existed so chuffed. I think maybe his 5th or 6th international boxing bout.

Checked it's his 8th or 9th fight (checked but can't remember already) :patsch

He was about 23....and was already 4 weight Lumpinee champion and twice Sports Writer of Thailand Fighter of the Year (essentially P4P best of the year).

No wonder he went over to boxing. He'd already done it all as a Nak Muay.

EDIT: Look at him in my avatar. Nails as a f'n kid, which all the top Muay Thai fighters are. Pro's as kids, they just find their strengths as they get older and develop into specialists.

Samart developed into a defensive specialist with the best offence. Says it all really.

    Runs too much.
    Jabs too much.

True Thai Warriors never run nor they jab.
True Thai Warriors mercilessly crush their enemies.

Probably that's why Runakaroon became a monk - he was ashamed of himself.

I've heard the only thing he was allowed to do in a buddhist temple was watch Khaosai's highlights.

Anyway, the guy he's fighting is out of Dieselnoi's gym I've been reliably informed. So he was probably pretty handy.

Him and Chitalada had such similar styles as pro boxers.

One of the greats! And certainly the most loved fighter in Thailand.

Check out the ATG Muay Thai thread in MMA Forum, my favourite thread on ESB, and the Bangkok fight card thread for everything present day, which by the way always gets uploaded to YouTube immediately after the fight so it's pretty easy to get into :good

    Samart was more reflexively gifted.

How's scoring work? Kicks count for more than punches?

Are the Moon/Konadu fights everything one would expect and hope them to be?

Iv been reading some of your posts regarding Thais and now have some Borkhorsor, Muangsurin, Payakaroon, Sahaprom, Galaxy fights i'll be checking out for the next while. The fact that so many are southpaws is an added bonus. Payakaroon...slick as ****. Thanks

Yuck. Modern game is hard to describe. 3,4 and 5th rounds are most important. Straight knees, counter shots and harder/cleaner kicks score most. Ring generalship is rewarded most, if you can trip/throw/drop your opponent and force him to chase the consensus is that you're controlling the fight.

I'm no expert though, just a fan, but most think the current system is geared towards close fights for the gamblers whereas in the golden age is was about sheer brutality.
