Okay so I watched the fight and tried to judge it by the way that I tried to give as many rounds as Ward could've taken and it was 114:113 for Kovalev. It's impossible for Ward to obtain a better result. Anyways the judges made their decision and if they were kind to the boxing people , they should consider it as a draw. They ruined the amazing match that Ward and Kovalev made. It was pretty nice to watch but ffs this is a terrible ending. If it was in a different country , it could be 115 or 116 against 112 111 for Kovalev. The draw would be the perfect solution and to get an amazing second match. Now I have no doubts that if it's in USA again Kovalev will go for the knockout and won't wait for the scorecards.
Absolute best case scenario for Ward was a generous draw. If he got one, you would still have thought he was massively fortunate. Giving him the decision win was an insult.
It is hard to give Ward a draw with a 10-8 round. Like...nearly impossible in a 12 round fight. The math just doesn't add up that way.
It was a draw on my card I would lean to Kovalev as the champion but 114-113 is a decent score for either man.
