Price is vastly overrated for me, big John would have exposed him had the original fight gone ahead. He should beat Dallas though.
David Price is very underated, he knocked out R. Butler in one round who is a A level journeyman....not bad for his 10th professional fight, before this fight it was distincly B and C level journeymen. He was going to step up and fight a top british domestic fighter and top 40 in europe...but now he is fighting his first fellow prospect. It is early days, but if you watch the performance against Butler he has come along way in 3 yrs since the Olympics.
I honestly don't see how you can claim he is underrated, a lot of people on this forum seem to think he's a top prospect. Once he fights a decent pressure fighter who can bang, he will hit the canvas quicker than James Kirkland when faced with a Japanese tourist. Not one of Price's opponents has landed anything substantial on him in his pro career, and that's because theyve all not been up to much, Butler included.
I still say don't be surprised if Dallas makes contact with Price's chin its all over or gets a points win off the back of them both being too gentle with each other. Price is just another Audley/Fury, 8ft 12" huge men but would properly get slaughtered if all three were in the same ring at the same time with someone like Haye at 6'2". Lets be real about these guys....over hyped and I'd even bet someone like Sexton or Chisora will rattle through them all anyway before they even get to European level, let alone world, I'd even give Sprott a shout with any of them. PS: Add Towers to that list.......9'10"!
I think Price is the real deal actually. Imagine he'll stop Dallas fairly quickly. Will be interesting though, and I do wonder if I might be misjudging Dallas cos he looked so woeful against Page. Everyone can have an off night. Just wish Bih John hadn't got ill cos that would have been a great test for Price.
Price is far superior imo and reports suggest he is still improving. Based on that, the late call up and the Ringside show i'd call it for Price within 4.
That thread needs to be dug up after every Price fight and depending on his performance his nickname can altered accordingly :hey
He is a top prospect at the moment though, top 20 world wide. His credentials, are former Olympian medallist and 3 time national champion. He has had 10 professional bouts including a win over an A list journeyman in Butler. If you could name me 20 better prospects with less than 15 professional fights or hell even less than 20 bouts then il take my hat off to you, but you wont. He is a prospect along with Fury, and Dallas himself. Fury is taking on Chisora and will be taking himself out of the prospects bracket as he will be fighting for the british and commonwealth titles against a top 40 heavyweight. Will Price go on to win a major world title or even a domestic title? Well we arent sure yet, after all he only fought one decent journeyman so far, and going with normal trends he needs another 8 or so 'A' list journeyman then he can take on contenders, or guys with more ambition. His fight with Dallas, is showing that he and his team have the will to go on further, originally they wanted to fight McDermot which is a nice step up. If he losses to Dallas, or to a McDermot then we will know that in terms of word wide potential then he dosent have it, but so far so good. And if anyone is thinking what A level journeyman are - Is guys like Ross Purity (from the past), M. Sprott guys who arent mugs, can have it. C Level Journeyman - (Example - called bums by fans) B Level Journeyman - (Example - called bums by fans) A Level Journeyman - M. Sprott, Ross Purrity, M. Harris, M. Barrett Prospect - Helenius, Pulev Contender / Title fighter- Adamek, E.Chambers Champion - Klitshcko ATG - Ali, L. Lewis etc So in essence in my word view there are 7 levels, he is in the 4th division at the moment, but a guy who coud well play higher up one day.
