MAB has no problems supporting or indeed complimenting his fellow Mexican. In fact, he listed Morales above even himself when asked to give a list of top 5 Mexican fighters of all time some years back. He can also be seen to congratulate JMM at the end of the video posted in this thread. Perhaps it's a case of some posters reading far too much into it. MAB has always been known as quite a stoic character, he was simply watching the monitor instead of dancing around like JCC and the rest of the commentary team. Horses for courses. Now let's get back to Boxing.

Unofficially, in your opinion. That's fine.

Fantastic win over Pacquiao, granted, but Jones was a faded fighter by the time Morales got to him. Do I think Morales beats a prime Jones, the Jones that met MAB in '97? Yes, and by stoppage, and easily, but he didn't.

Depending on how you scored their respective fights with one another, it's conceivable. Personally I scored all three in favour of MAB so it's difficult, almost impossible for me to rate Morales as being the greater of the two.

I think JMM was fairly close to his prime in 07 whereas MAB was clearly on the slide. The 24 rounds MAB fought with Juarez are indicative of this. Likewise, his less than stellar performance against Robbie Peden a tad earlier would suggest MAB's best days were behind him. They say every great fighter has one great fight left in him. In the case of Barrera, that was probably in the third fight with Morales in 04.

...Or, he was watching the monitor to see every detail of the stoppage. Just a wild thought.

    This ^ 100%

Also... I have noticed Chavez supports just about every Mexican fighter in big fights, seems very patriotic & passionate.

I'm sorry Bill, it just doesn't work like that my friend.

I've watched the fight myself. Several times. The idea that Morales was robbed is a huge myth. Barrera was given the benefit of the doubt in a super close fight, just as Morales had done two years prior. The double standards is quite amusing, once you think about it.
