Excellent post , very diplomatc and nicely put :good Im confused what you disagree with ??? , was it when i said your either Pride or UFC , which i do beleive to be true , like you said you loved Pride and im guessing you voted for Pride , therefore even though you sound like a MMA fan in general your heart lies with Pride as mine does the UFC , maybe im wrong !!!! Anyway back to your post , im a fan of dream and im really starting to like Bellator too , there promotion is really well put together , no BS just good strong standard of MMA through out it would seem . I like Strikeforce too , but they cannot compete with the UFC i hate to say that as id love inter promotion fights like in the early days but White is on some conquer the world mission and is out to destroy anyone in his path , and at the mo Strikeforce are somewhere on that path , but i am a fan , i actually think the whole production of there cards is somewhat better than the UFC's purely from a TV POV , they cannot offer what the UFC can i hate to bang this drum but they just cant , who knows maybe Dana White's ego may force a couple of stars elsewhere and bang you have a rival , once again i hate to say it but id just like to see all the best fighters in the world under the UFC umberella just from a fan perspective , but who am i to say Aoki , Diaz , Fedor , Henderson , Huerta , Melendez and co should not double there pay income just to say they fight for the UFC !!!!
Really !!!!!!!!!!!! Your avatar may have given away the fact you like to see men kicked in the head and stomped on when there on the ground , that aint martial arts mate :deal
PRIDE put on great fights and had the premier talent for...the year of 2005. The UFC now puts on all the good fights.
I voted for the UFC. More shows. More organized. Better fighters spread through the weightclasses. Drug testing. I prefer the cage. etc.
UFC to me still has that 'home brand' feeling to it i liken it to diet coke or 2% fat milk - its 10/11ths - i dont know whether its because of the douche bags that attend the shows, the jew boy president or joe rogane and his side kick commentator - when you watched the pride events it was something unique - the way the fighters entered the arena, that japanese person that said the fighters name in a ******ed way - as apposed to bruce buffer - the way the owners of pride treated their fighters it was just a different level - UFC just has never been able to replicate this atmosphere.
UFC favors wrestlers, even though UFC was set up by the Gracies most BJJ guys say the rules in PRIDE were more open. The no elbows on the ground rule also lead to much better camera work, PRIDE looked like much more of a spectacle, UFC comes across as a low budget production. PRIDE built every fighter and every match on a card into something big, a UFC PPV centers around one or two fights and the rest is just filler. I come from a judo and bjj background and everyone I've ever trained with say they prefer PRIDE.
It cant. The UFC doesn't have the pageantry and spectacle of PRIDE. PRIDE shows you knew you were watching something special. The UFC is just the equivalent of a cheap shag only to boot the ***** out of your car after you've busted a nut. PRIDE on the other hand was the memorable **** with a chick that was at least 20 levels above your station that you get to gloat to all your friends about for the next 20 years.
You have no ****ing clue what your talking about. There are so many examples of Pride screwing fighters out of money, making them take fights on 2 weeks notice on the reg, ****ing them over at the weigh ins, leaving fighters to take themselves to the hospital, putting them in crazy mismatches etc. What about Mezger/Sakuraba when Mezger took the fight on short notice with a broken foot. He should have beat Saku by decision after the contracted time limit was reached but instead the Pride officials ordered an overtime to give Saku another chance to win the fight. Mezger refused so instead of a decision win like he deserved he lost by forfeit. But hey whatever, still better than the UFC right? Howabout when they marketed Rampage as a homeless guy and made him lose crazy amounts of weight to fight Saku, so much so that Rampage had to be carried out of the weigh ins unable to walk. Remember this was when Pride didn't even have weight classes. Howabout when Danzig fought Sakurai at 33. They were supposed to fight at 160 but when Sakurai came in 6-7 pounds over the limit, the weight limit was changed last minute for the native fighter's convenience. No fine was issued, no yellow card to start fight. Totally fair though right? Don't even get me started on how they would throw Japanese pro wrestlers with losing records into match ups with the best fighters in the world. Otsuka vs Igor? Cro Cop vs Dos Caras Jr? Yamamoto vs everyone? It was a joke, a sick joke. Look I loved Pride but their management were criminals, literally. WTF you think the yakuza scandal was anyway?
^ I wish you never got started in the first place ....who's the grown ass man complaining about a bloodsport now. The almighty ESB poll so far is 40 -5 ESB has spoken...sit down.
Big man u gotta be shitting me , the UFC a low budget production , Pride was what it was , glittery and glamoury yes , but the UFC was the first of its kind in the States , the build up shows , the Primetime's , the 60 second intro's just before a fight , the excellent commentary team , there is nothing to dis like about a UFC production , speak to every promoter in boxing and they will agree that the one edge the UFC has is marketing and production , there experts at it , look at the way conduct there weigh in's FFS ......... Your right about the one thing the UFC does IMO overly emphasise on the main event fight , but thats hard not too looking at some of the main events they put on NO ???? , and to say regular undercard fighters like Tyson Griffin , Kenny Florian , John Fitch , Carlos Condit , Alan Belcher , Dennis Kang , Lil Nog , Brandon Vera , Pat Barry , Junior Dos Santos (this list is endless) are just fillers is just plain inaccurate , these are top level fighters and headliners in any other company and these are fillers Im assuming your referring to Pride's scoring system as oppose to there rules when you say the BJJ guys like it more , well thats because BJJ was invented by the Japanese and in Pride damage to an opponent and attempted submissions were viewed more highly than keeping top control of an opponent , you cant argue with that i suppose , but the way i look at it this , if your keeping an opponent from moving , controlling him and hitting him ON TOP !!! , he can go for as many submissions as he likes but imo the man on top is winning the fight , second to that if your on top and in someone's guard who happens to have an excellent guard and you have been able to do nothing and they have landed effective strikes from the bottom that person on the bottom should be winning the fight , but for some reason it doesnt seem to work like that :huh The big dislike about the ring for me is that it spoils the fluidity of a fight , which does hand an advantage to wrestlers when an mma fight is in a cage , but hey wrestling is a huge part of mma , and when you put a fight in a ring it unfairly takes the advantage of wrestling away immediatley , therefore not encompassing the idea of mixed martial arts , in the cage the fight is fluent and fair on every level , and if you cant wrestle but you have the best stand up in the game , then unlucky go and learn to wrestle , thats just MO .............
Valid points thewinfella but you have to remember PRIDE had all the build up shows, behind the scenes similar to HBO 24/7, weekly tv shows in Japan. They simply didn't have the budget or outlet to translate and show these in America or Europe. In their golden era one of the highest rated shows on Japanese TV was a TUF style show they had to select a new set of ring girls! As for the "excellent commentary team" you can't seriously compare Rogan and that Jew to Bas and the Fight Prof. surely not, I've always been of the opinion that if you don't like Bas you have no soul.
Bas is overrated, well more like he became overrated, he became a terrible exaggeration of himself, repeating the same shtick, Trigg was better by the time he came.
Can we stop throwing around the word jew as an insult. WTF is wrong with some of you? This is a public forum FFS.
