i need to here peoples opinion on this i know tyzsu ko'd an old chavez but how would he do say against the chavez that beat Medldrick Taylor. i know tyszu is one of the greats at 140 but who wins prime 4 prime . i realy was thinking this one out but couldn't realy pick a winner
Prime Tszyu had good speed and skills, and possessed the power Meldrick Taylor didn't. This is a good big guy against good small guy - do you remember Chavez started in 130lbs? Tszyu TKO
What Tszyu didn't have is the hand speed of Meldrick Taylor. For starting out at bantamweight and winning his 1st title at 130, Chavez was arguably the greatest 140 pounder ever.
i went for Tszyu because in case you missed the fight in 2000, Tszyu's style beats Chavez every time even in his Prime just like Oscars style beats Chavez everytime. its all about styles gentlemen and Tszyu and Dela Hoya had the perfect styles to beat a Prime Chavez. not taking anything away from JC but if your talking the 2001 version of Kostya Tszyu against the 1990 version of Chavez well i hate to say it but Tszyu will win. at 38 although Chavez being old isnt as good but he was still ranked by Ring at 140 and his style was just all wrong to beat Zoo in there Primes anyway. who are the two men that only really gave Chavez a belting and knocked him down. yep the two men in ODH and Tszyu. and it wasnt because Chavez was old it was more because ODH and Zoo's type of styles. Tszyu by late TKO 10
why does everyone that hasnt really watched Tszyu say always he was slow when that wasnt the case. His Right Hand was so quick that many didnt even know what hit them just ask Zab.
I never said Kostya was slow - he wasn't, but Meldrick Taylor was in another league in terms of speed. You cant really say Tszyu would beat Chavez because of what Taylor did in the first 10 rounds of the first fight because it was the handspeed that threw Julio off.
Aaron Pryor was the best. Try to live with it. If you succeed, you'll probably be able to look at Tszyu-JCC at another angle :blurp
Aaron, head to head, I believe was the best ever at 140, but regardless, it doesn't change my opinion that Chavez at his best at 140 would beat Kostya Tszyu.
but you summed it up right there. Meldrick Taylor no matter how good he was, he wasnt on the same league as a 2001 Kostya Tszyu. Tszyu in 2001 was at his peak and was deadly and he cut the ring off better than anyone in the game. like a stalker in the night. also id say Kostya had the best 1/2 Combo in the game at the time aswell as being a very underated Counter puncher. it was all Kostya's style that undid Chavez when they fought and it would be no different in a 1990 Chavez vs a 2001 Tszyu.
This is boxing, anything can happen and its really not out of the question to say Tszyu could have beaten Chavez - you bring up some good points, but my vote stands:good
