This is a fight I have been trying to figure out with both at their peak. First off I see this fight going the full 15 rounds, both men had Iron Chins and great stamina especially at 130. Would the workrate and combinations on the inside give Chavez the edge or would Arguello time him enough and keep him on the end of the Jab with straight right hands following them? Either way I think it is a close points win on either side, but I slightly lead on Arguello landing the cleaner, harder, more accurate shots.

    Arguello close UD or MD

    Your thoughts?

Oh I doubt that, a prime Arguello could take some body shots, hell old Arguello nearly went 15 rounds with a peak Pryor who went very well to the body in that fight.

I suppose JCC’s peak was higher than 130. In 130 he looked a bit lazy (drained too much weight?). He liked to box more unstead of relentless war. It looked like he was not going for a knockout against guys like Lockridge or LaPorte. This was wrong tactics against Arguello. Given the room for boxing Alexis have chances to outbox Chavez slightly untill his punches bother JCC too much and make him go for war. Chavez at a slight margin or a very late TKO.

being an arguello fan, i think this is a 60/40 fight in favor of arguello. styles wise arguello has the advantage and would be controlling the action from the outside as soon as he extablishes his excellent jab. but chavez was an extremely resilient fighter as we've seen throughout his career, and if he weathers the storm he could do damage inside. chavez is a great come forward pressure fighter, but does'nt posses the kind of work rate as aaron pryor who smothered alexis. at 130 alexis power was extremely potent, one of the hardest punchers in that weight imo. but i'm giving chavez a good chance, based on his legendary toughness and the fact that arguello was only a decent mover with minimal lateral movement.

130 was Arguello's peak. At 135, I'd take the best Chavez to beat him, but at 130, I think Arguello gets it done, though possibly by Decision.

I think he proved his toughness and ability to take punishment when past his prime against Pryor at 140, so I don't think against a younger Chavez he'd have as many problems, especially in his own peak. Arguello had a very good body attack of his own, and placed his punches perfectly, great timing. Chavez's pressure would give him trouble at times, but overall, he'd be landing the bigger, harder shots on the younger Chavez, who was forced to box with gys like LaPorte because of their firepower.

arguello's body punches were indeed often an overlooked aspect of his style, but those dug in left hooks were brutal. ground up kobayashi like salt. arguello would'nt find it hard to land on jcc, but that granite chin would'nt crumble.

arguello - sanchez at feather who do you take? also at 130, if sanchez moved before his death?

Feathweight I might take Sanchez. 130 I might take Arguello, and possibly by late stoppage. I'll say Decision though.

At 130, I don't think Chavez was quite as good as he was at 135 and 140. At this weight class, Arguello was better. I'd pick him to outbox Chavez for the majority of the fight. As Sweet Pea said, Chavez would have his moments where his pressure allows him to take some rounds and give Arguello a rough time.

At 135 and 140, I'd go with Chavez
