I loved Tyson, he was an absolute beast in his prime, but the Berbick fight is the wrong one to bring up here, Berbick fought like an arrogant moron and got his just desserts that night. No way would Ali be dumb enough to fight like that, he had the speed to counter Tysons, a big size and reach advantage, ring smarts, footwork, great chin, one of the best jabs ever and enough stamina to fight at a high pace for 15 rounds if necessary. All of that is a horrible combination for any version of Tyson, but I wouldn't discount Tyson catching Ali with a few and scoring 1-2 knockdowns on the way. If they fought 10 times maybe Tyson would even get a stoppage once or twice but the smart money would always be on Ali.
You must have not read what I typed. I said that the Ali of 1971 who fought Joe Frazier is not different in his style than the ali who fought Mildenberger, ali uses the same style though these years. Joe Frazier had the style match up to beat Ali. You can deny this if you want or make an excuse that Ali wasnt the same style he was using in 1967. But, the fact is styles make fights. It is not a cliche, it is the way boxing goes.Tyson has a similar style to frazier, attack, cut off the ring and use head movement. Tyson was faster than frazier with his hands, with his feet and packed more power. Tyson also had a better chin and diversified his punches better than Frazier. This is a bad styles match up for Ali.
simply to say "prime tyson would have chance to knock out ali" it is phasfemy. average fighters like tillis, green, tucker, smith did survive against tyson. ali was much faster with hands and legs, he had better reflexes, he had more confidence in himself, he had iron chin, great heart, great stamina. no ****ing way tyson would beat a prime ali 64-67. Are you sure? have you seen the first fight? Liston caught him many times. liston was also very slow on his feet, had little head movement and was a relatively slow with his hands. If you are talking about the rematch where he took a dive..well enough said about that.
In 71 Ali didn't have the legs he had in the 60s, he used to really do alot of dancing in 60s, Tyson never liked anyone who could dance, and 67 Ali could dance better than anyone in the ring.
Liston was also good puncher with an 84 inch reach, saying Tyson would easily bomb Ali out early is kind of ridiculous.
obviously you know nothing about the styles... joe frazier was not tyson, frazier had more stamina, he was the ultimate pressure fighter, he was better body puncher than tyson(larry holmes said that), frazier did much more pressure than tyson did, frazier had much more heart than tyson, frazier was more durable, even foreman could not ko frazier for the count, tyson was ko by a bum like douglas and he was stopped by a light hitter like evander.frazier was henrry armstrong in the hw. and ali had no problem with the big right hands, the weak point of ali was a great left hook, frazier had the best left hook in the history of boxing. frazier had the pack to give problems to ali70s, this version of ali was much more static, a peak ali 65-66 who faced williams and liston is the best hw ever.
Was Ali faster? I think tyson was and in the first few rounds coming out blazing, he would hit and hurt Ali, but would he go down? probably not but i favour tyson in this one
