Whether he was fast or not,
That fight would have been 'one boring fight'

Ali's character and moxie would be too much for Tyson.

Ali shots from big punchers but never really took sustained beatings from big punchers. Ali never let guys hit him succession with clean shots. Ali backpedaled when he was hurt and bought time occasionally as a result it's fair to say that Ali's style and savvy meant that he knew how to recover better.

    In terms of absorbing punishment?

Tyson took a beating from Douglas. He was getting hit with 4-5 punch combinations at some point. Tyson got the same from Holyfield and Lewis.
Tyson doesn't backpedal. So when he gets hit with a big shot, he keeps trucking forward. He may not come with with little caution but he seldom buys himself time by backpedaling and using lateral movement.

Chin I'd argue in terms of durability, I give the edge to Mike. But Ali was more savvy and he knew how to survive when hurt and he knew how to improvise so that he get back into the fight and that is the difference between a stoppage sometimes.

Tyson didn't know how to improvise so when he's hurt he doesn't do anything different; he stays hurt.

But alas this isn't about who beats who this is about speed!!!

And the question remains was Ali's speed too much for Tyson?

Again my answer is no. Tyson's speed was just as good and his reflexes were quick enough to make it a non issue.

If Peak Ali is "too fast" for Peak Tyson, then he's "too fast" for every other Heavyweight too.

I certaintly don't think Ali was "too fast" to stop this from being a very competitive fight whoever wins. Peak Ali obviously has the fastest footwork at Heavyweight, but Peak Tyson had underappreciated quick footwork, enough to close the distance with Ali many times during the fight. Also, the lighting handspeed & reflexes are aproximately the same for both, with only a very minimal edge either way.

There's too many critics and not enough fans on this ****ing board now. I'm guilty of it myself, criticising Dempsey, but I don't do it to the extent of these morons. Alexvoce and Il Duce for Ali, spanishforeman hook for Marciano/Tyson and foreman hook for Tyson. Give it a ****ing rest eh?

Anyways, what the hell is the point of your thread, then? Too fast for what? To lose a contest of who's faster? Do you have any control over how stupid you allow yourself to come off?

Is that all this guy does?

  11. the point is if the speed of ali would be too much for tyson, because mitch green did show that tyson was not as fast as many fans think. could tyson even catch ali? or would be ali too fast? would be the speed of ali the biggest factor to beat tyson?
if your poor brain can´t understand it, you have a problem, little piece of ****.

  12. if to be a marciano hater is to say that foreman would absolutely destroy marciano in 2 rounds, yes then i am a rocky hater. the problem is that i hate fanboys like rockysplit, because he think that rocky marciano would beat anyone of any era. lmao.
hell, i don´t hate marciano. he was a gentleman. i hate the blind fans, i love foreman, but i know that a good version of ali would beat him always, styles make fights.. and i know that foreman would ko tyson and marciano. but they would be better rivals for ali.
guys like bummydavis(i think that it is the nickname) talk **** about foreman in every thread, according to him, george would lose against anyone. when the fantasy fight is foreman vs a boxer then he say styles make fights, when his rival is a short puncher like marciano, he forget the rule "styles make fights" , this bum would argue that hagler might beat foreman lmao. and i have to listen suckcocks like him everyday on this forum. and you are saying that i am a hater? because i said that ali had better chin than tyson? it is a fact... you do not know you are talking... check the thread lewis vs tyson... i did pick tyson..

Too much for what? In the post of yours I just quoted you claimed that your thread had nothing to do with how they matched up head to head, just who was faster. I think everyone knows that Ali was faster (at least in terms of footspeed and reflexes), so what the hell is your point? What do you mean by "too much for tyson"?

When? You show one clip of Tyson pre-title and expect us to lose sight of his other performances against faster fighters than Green like Biggs? When the hell did Green expose Tyson's supposed lack of speed, anyway? What the hell are you watching? Green was a tough guy who got beat up like the rest of Tyson's opponents, he just managed to hang in there and give him a decent go. What speed are you referring to?

I don't think speed in of itself would have much to do with it, moreso than inherent worth of the fighters overall.

It's nothing to do with my brain, rather the fact that you type like a blind, deaf, and dumb dunce.

    hur hur hur hur!!!

No. Tyson was plenty fast himself.

Ali would probably win, but it wouldn't be a fight where you go "wow, the speed was the difference".
