Prime Andrew Golota vs. Michael Spinks

i know its predictable but i do honestly believe that golota would get so frustratred by spinks that he would go into a ball belting marathon and get DQ'd around the 9th

 

Spinks would survive the first two rounds, hit the Pole a few times, and then as was his custom, Golota would either do something crazy, like foul or bite Spinks, and then get disqualified.

 

Golota too strong

 

Spinks was mentally tough enough to force Golota into ****ing himself up.

 

Too easy to say that Golota would be too big. Really depends on the frame of mind in which Andrew shows up. If he remains disciplined, then he might wear down and stop Spinks in the middle rounds.

Otherwise, a fast, skillful and gyrating Spinks would have frustarted Golota enough to make him do something drastic, leading to his disqualification.

 

Spinks would win by DQ.

It is inevitable.

 

I think I'm with Janitor on this one. Either that or Golota would quit on his stool.

 

Spinks would not engage Golota but infrequently. It would be very annoying especially for the Pole. During the clinches, instead of imposing his strength and mauling the smaller man, Golota would probably rabbit punch or stray low out of frustration. Spinks complains violently to the referee over and over until the fight is stopped.

The winner would depend on the referee.

 

I think Spinks is far too good for Golota, who really wasnt as good as the two losses to Riddick Bowe indicate on paper. I say Spinks by TKO 8. Though i agree with the growing consensus, that Bowe might be DQd.

 

Golota sure has fought for a long time against any number of opponents with this only happening twice against the same opponent.

 

Golota mostly had trouble with hard hitting or big, strong imposing opponents. Spinks is neither of those. Let's not forget that in '96, against Bowe, Golota was one of the best superheavyweights we've ever seen... in terms of skill, speed and stamina. He lacked power, but i don't think that will be a problem against a naturally much smaller man like Spinks. I know it's popular to pick the opponent by DQ, but he was really really good against "safe" opponents. When far past his best, he nearly beat Ruiz and Byrd back-to-back; only to be stopped by Brewster in 60 seconds.

Golota is no Tangsted. I'd take him by TKO. As much as i like Spinks, i don't think he was all that good as a heavyweight. Holmes was old and out of shape when he beat him, and during the rematch when Larry trained well, Larry should've probably won. Williams had also beaten Holmes a year before, in my opinion. Not that Holmes was an easy mark, but a peak Golota was way, way better when matched with a Spinks-type of boxer.
