    Norton outpoints The Mongoose....at heavy.

    Interesting info:

1955-05-02 : Archie Moore 196½ lbs beat Nino Valdes 209½ lbs by PTS in round 15 of 15
    • Moore was to have had a tuneup fight against Frankie Daniels in San Diego, California, on March 18, 1955. However, the bout was canceled and Moore's license was revoked by the state commission after doctors said Moore had a heart ailment. The following month, a specialist declared Moore's heart to be "extraordinarily good," and his fight with Valdes went on as scheduled.
    • Promoter Jack Kearns announced that Moore and Valdes would fight for the "World Heavyweight Championship of Nevada." Referring to World Heavyweight Champion Rocky Marciano, Kearns said, "That other guy refused to fight either Moore or Valdes, so they're declaring the title vacant and the winner will claim it."
    • Moore was a 2 to 1 betting favorite.
    • Moore was the reigning World Light Heavyweight Champion, and Valdes was the No. 1-ranked heavyweight contender.
    • There was a crowd of 10,800, and the gate receipts were $102,678.
    • Former World Heavyweight Champion James J. Braddock was the referee and sole judge.
    • The Associated Press had the fight even going into the final round. The AP reported: "Moore closed fast to win the decision."
    • The United Press scored the fight 8-6-1 for Moore.

Moore would be a very live underdog to pull a Jose Luis Garcia on Ken ..

Moore great LHW but even though he came so close to winning the HW
title his greatness did not carry into the HW. Norton style similar
to Moore and was nearly a carbon copy of Moore.
Norton physical advantage too much and Moore fought for HW title
in his 40 's and past his prime. Norton on pts.

Interesting that Archie and Norton were both from the San Diego area.
Ol' Archie, might have helped Kenny out with his boxing style sometime in Norton's career.

    Moore:

    Norton:
"Norton is a 1989 inductee of the World Boxing Hall of Fame, a 1992 inductee of the International Boxing Hall of Fame,[36] a 2004 inductee into the United States Marine Corps Sports Hall of Fame,[4] and a 2008 inductee into the World Boxing Council Hall of Fame.
In 2001, Norton was inducted by the San Diego Hall of Champions into the Breitbard Hall of Fame honoring San Diego's finest athletes both on and off the playing surface.[39] Norton was also inducted into the Marine Corps Hall of Fame in 2004 and into the California Sports Hall of Fame in 2011".

Very intruiging matchup.I have a feeling that Norton might be too powerful for Archie.

damn...tough one. Wouldn’t be surprised by either coming out. I don’t nevessarily think the size is the issue more of their styles and I can’t really pick one.
