  1. i think that jones beats charles at 160 or 175.
in the hw i would pick charles because jones would be more slow

  2. it would be more difficult than to say 4 words

A well thought out prediction generaly requires more than 4 words!

  4. i think that the old school is absolutely overrated and the modern boxers are criminally underrated .
i think that if roy had fought in the era of moore,charles... he would have been the champ. simple... he was much more muscular,he had great hitting power, he was faster with hands and feet, better reflexes by a mile ,accurate puncher. better athlete and better boxer even than charles, they were great, buta prime jones was better.

  5. well, it would be more difficult than any word that you can say

I'd give Roy Jones the early rounds and he might put a scare into Archie like Yvon Durelle did. Archie still KOs Jones around the 9th or 10th round, certainly within the 12 round distance. Archie is a ring master that Jones has never faced with exception of Hopkins, the second time around.

  7. .... roy jones was better than any rival of moore by far...

roy jones was emphatically not better than ezzard charles by far. he wasn't better than ezzard charles at all

look at moore's other rivals: charley burley, harold johnson (man in my avatar), rocky marciano. roy jones did not stand head and shoulders above any of them

i rate roy at 168 AS unbeatable but at 175, with a history with such a rich tradition, he would surely meet his match against many of the champions of the past. i just don't think archie moore is one of them

jones has incredible hand speed but i don't think he'd beat charles, foster, spinks and a win over moore is debatable

  12. really? what did have charles over jones?... better career.... end of the history.
    speed: jones
    hitting power: jones
    reflexes: jones
    defense: jones
    skill: maybe charles
    stamina: equal
    strength:jones

For the record, I was just going along with what combatboxeo would say (which turned out to be true).

I think Moore would land that right hand at some point and it would be over.

Jones is faster and more muscular (not that it matters to anyone that knows their ass from a hole in the ground concerning boxing), but not better technically and not stronger, not more crafty either. Moore can take Jones' punches, or at least recover from big shots or knockdowns, Jones can't say the same.

As for Charles, it would become clearer and clearer as the fight went on that speed and potshots only gets you so far against someone who can do not just a little of everything, but alot of everything...

The faster more skilled opponents all beat Moore - Patterson, Charles, Burley. Moore has the great win over Johnson. But against Jones he fights someone that can land first with explosive accuracy, someone that will make him miss and counter him, which will make him gun shy. You have to give Archie a punchers chance here but Jones may well have more of a punchers chance given that Jones has the power to KO Archie and more speed and accuracy to land that KO punch first. Archie could well become reluctant to punch as he gets countered time and again and like many of Jones opponents go into survival mode
