very good am but never transferd it to the pros. Amazing what having a head guard on does - he wasnt scared to throw then - fast forward 10 years and every fight was stand on your heel wait to counter
Thing is everything was to Audley's advantage in the Am's. I mean the guys he fought weren't really athletic fast moving Heavyweights. They were super heavy's and they suited him down to a tee. He's not the only guy who's style/mentality is suited to the Am's better then the Pro's. Shame he never transferred it because he does/did have skills.
i think he fought alot of weak amateurs and lost to the majority of the good ones he faced. nevertheless the amateur audley never transpired to the pros. he didn't have the mental strength, 12 round stamina or durability to survive. he's also not SUPER talented to be able to fight like he does. his poor wlad impression doesn't work. plus audleys defence never did impress me. by and large, take the headgear off and audley is very scared to get hit.
by and large, I agree with this... although i think if he boxed as a kid and got used to getting hit more, he might have made a better pro
