Hearns by UD, as the executioner tends to not get stopped. The Hitman uses his jab to hurt Hopkins and nullify his offense.

The statement "prime Tommy Hearns at 168" is an oxymoron.

Hopkins wins, most probably stops him.

"prime Tommy Hearns" and "168 pounds" don't go together so I'd take Hopkins by UD or late round stoppage. Also because I think Hopkins was too slick and would be able to pot shot Hearns (who never had great defense) then get on the inside where he did his best work.

the only chance hopkins has is if he is fighting at light heavy and calls tommy out when he was a welterweight like all his other famous victories.

Hearns was far from prime at 168.. And when he fought there he had been stopped by Barkley and with Kinchen, he was almost stopped after the Barkley fight was still affecting him. Too many people rate Hearns at 160 and above. His pre-Hagler fighting at 147 and 154 was when he was untouchable more than later.

How about a prime James Toney at heavyweight?

I disagree, but not with your avatar, my brother. Just about the outcome.

Hearns is sometimes slightly overrated at higher weights due to his star power and fan - friendly fighting style. I don't see how he beats or even stops Hopkins, whose chin may be as good as Hagler's. If SRL could walk down Hearns, so could a prime Hopkins.

This fight is actually right up Hopkins's alley, calling up a man who's best weights were at 147 and 154 to fight at 168 and then acting like he is some boxing god for beating him.

I give up on ESB when it comes to mythical matchups.

You all might as well say prime Roberto Duran @ 160 against prime RJJ and you would still get more than a handful of idiots picking Duran.
