I think this is a very close contest. I'll favour Hopkins but my mind could change over time.

    Bhop that KO’d Trinidad?

    possibly beats Canelo
But I’m not sure either way to be honest.

    I would favour Hopkins
I think it would be cagey earlier on but Hopkins natural size comes into play as the fight wears on with Alvarez being slowed down with mauling, holding and hitting
Possibly a late stoppage for Hopkins

I notice people mention Alvarez power slot recently and no doubt he is very strong but it wash like he blasted Saunders out or knocked him down or Smith or Jacob's
Hopkins was a very solid puncher at mw and lhw also
I wouldn't be shocked if Hopkins was a bigger puncher of the two

I think bhop would edge it based on his defense for the most part. I think he'd catch and counter and conserve his energy and know exactly when he'd won enough rounds to start to coast to a MD.

I favor Hopkins. Very skilled and bigger. Hopkins had trouble with fast guys with movement. However, Canelo's disciplined body punching could be an X factor. I don't remember Hopkins fighting a body puncher like that. He didn't fight McCallum. Hopkins was good at making people miss but I don't know if he'd have the same success with Canelo's body work.

It would definitely be an interesting fight. Canelo has never fought anyone like Hopkins, and the only time Hopkins fought a great counter puncher, he lost against RJJ.

My gut instinct tells me Hopkins is too wise, to crafty, to skilled for Canelo, but H2H I see Canelo putting a hurting on Hopkins with his powerful counters.

    Hard to predict

You haven't seen him up against these types because Hopkins was a Unique fighter IMO...
Also if he were Mr Reynoso would say "No"...
