Gerald has a chance of knocking out Bernard early but it is a slim one because of Hopkins's defensive ring smarts. Much more likely is a Hopkins UD or a late TKO.

Guys remember this is not a fight where we have to imagine prime for prime who would have won. There was a time when they were both middleweights that could have fought each other. Also, G-man beat Roy in the ams, to say he does not have boxing skills of his own is incorrect. And B-hop didn't become such a defensive fighter until later in his career. either way this is a competitive fight imo.

Hokins weathers the early storm and beats him points, when McClellan gets aggressive, Hopkins ties him up and gets dirty

My thoughts of Hopkins in his prime were the tough fights of Segundo mercado and antwun echols. Back in those days he used to FIGHT. Before his economical reserved limit of punches crap. Don't get me wrong, both styles were fantastic but one was a young man's game while the other well suited for an old man. Brilliant on his part to have such longevity.
