GGG wins this fight. It would be competitive but not close, being scored 8-4.

GGG was a masterful boxer. 365-5 as an amateur and a monster as a pro. Perfect footwork cutting off a ring, perfect balance and distance. Incredible strength and physically just an incredibly hard man. These things would negate nearly all of Hopkins dirty tactics.

His refinement and skills are so far beyond Trinidad and Pavlik it's almost blasphemous to even have to point that out.
(Tito would be given the Kell Brook treatment at 160lbs by GGG)

Hopkins would go the full 12 but he would massively stink out the joint.

Hopkins in a very ugly fight, probably an 8-4 type of decision.

Yes to big! Hopkins was 6'1 GGG was 5'10.Hopkins went up to 175 no problem & beat some top Light heavyweights.GGG didn't even try to move up to 168 because he knew it would have been to big for him.So Hopkins by passed the 168 & right into 175.

Didn't the 5'8 Canelo ko Kovalev? Hopkins achievements are unbelievable & in his late 30's early 40's he ko Kovalev.

BHop struggled with guys with speed (Jones, Dawson, Taylor, Calzaghe) but anyone else, especially guys who didn't have explosive speed (hand or foot), he was able to dictate the distance and pace of fight and pretty much control them. Bhop was the master of distance against slower fighters and he usually landed the lead right hands all night long or choose to fight on the inside whenever he wanted.

I see GGG having some success due to his technical skills and fundamentals but he just didn't have the speed of both hand or foot to trouble BHop's superior, overall boxing skills.

How many times has Hopkins fought & defeated big punches .Tarver 6'2 & a light heavyweight & hit way harder than GGG & Hopkins wins a decision.Hopkins has got a great resume against former P4P greats who has GGG fought & defeated??Most of GGG fans are fans of him & not really true boxing fans who have watched the sport for years & understand how Hopkins ( the bigger of the 2) easily smothers GGG punches & when he does get hit his iron chin gets him through. The only time Hopkins was ever stopped was at Light Heavyweight & when he was 50 years old.Its hard to judge GGG because as a MW Champion there was really no big named MW around for him to beat so when he does fight lesser opponents he looks great when he does KO them.He was beaten twice by a 154 champion coming up in weight to fight him.

Your post was worth taking into consideration until this.

Tarver had 37 fights, 22 knock outs, 60% KO ratio, which means he doesn't really hit that hard.

While I agree Tarver was a decent puncher only, not a big puncher, you can't always go by the KO%, especially if we're talking about guys who are natural counter punchers.

Chris Eubank Sr for example, only 44% KO ratio but Calzaghe said nobody hit him as hard as Eubank, he also dropped the iron chinned Collins, almost killed Watson with one punch. Eubank like Tarver is a natural counter puncher, if he has to chase an opponent then he becomes far less effective and so is unlikely to stop an opponent, but when faced with an opponent that would press it would allow Eubank to opportunity to display his power.
