By the same logic, Tyson should have a questionable chin since he was floored and even stopped by the same Holyfield (and Douglas). Bowe took probably hundreds of punches against Golota, and at the end he was almost like a walking punching bag, yet he was still standing, so his chin can't be as bad as you are trying to made it. The war with Holyfield is another good example, even if he got floored in the process. You can also see him taking some good punches in other fights (in the opening rounds against Hide for example) - I agree it didn't happen too often as he rarely fought good enough opponents. About him being afraid of Lewis... well, that would be completely another thing, unrelated to his chin. Although even in this case I wonder how much of the blame should be attributed rather to Paul Newman and his "guidance".
im saying bowe was really up for gonzales.....bowe needed to be up for a guy/...............hey vitali beat an 38 yr old fatt briggs what does that prove?????????????? bowe would be up for vitali..........if that bowe shows up vitali is in trouble.
I agree with most of that. Except the part about 37 not being old. Wasn't he the 2nd (maybe 3rd) oldest champion ever in that fight? I think we've seen fighters fight longer into their career these days for a few reasons. (Which IMO has really accelerated since Lewis retired - that's co-incidental, it's been happening gradually for a while, but more markedly in the last 10 years or so). Money - it's so huge these days, why stop? Talent - there just aren't that many good young fighters any more. Number of fights - fighters just don't have the same number of hard fights these days, and are brought up against bums until they get their big payday. Look at the number of top ranked guys Lewis, Holyfield etc fought when they weren't champs. Or the number of other top ranked guys that fought each other to get title shots. It just doesn't happen anymore. Guys get to a title fight, and they're woefully underprepared for it. they simply haven't had enough hard fights. Then they have to face somebody decent like Wlad or Vitali, and it's like stepping up 3 leagues in ability. A good example is Tua v Ike. No way on earth a fight like that gets made today. Two young guys, renowned for big punching and great chins, face each other when undefeated, and put on a ****ing barn burner. These days they'd keep KO'ing stiffs for ever and a day.
