prime bowe vs prime max baer....

Some people here like Caveman Baer (a crude slugger with super powers because he fought Joe Louis!) against Mainstream Mike Tyson...so there will definitely be enough idiots to choose him against Bowe too. :yep

 

Would be interesting to see how Bowe fared against someone who could punch harder than Herbie Hide

Bowe would be far too much for Baer.

 

while i think you're being harsh on both the classic and baer, he certainly looks like **** on film. he obviously had great power and some decent fundamentals, he was more of a physical specimen who had natural talent but sub par technique at best.

bowe is just so much better fundamentally that the difference in power would be overshadowed by bowe's technique and combination punching

 

If Bowe can take Baer's power he'll win with skill and will.
But Bowe never took on a puncher of Baer's magnitude.

 

So basically Unforgiven from thread to thread making up silly **** to build up fighters he likes? Baer's power is so unreal that chin chin Joe Louis walked right through it? Baer killed somebody in the right? Wow since Lewis and Foreman never killed anybody they must have weak power now right? Baer cheap shotted a bum in the back of the head with those small "ufc" styled boxing gloves. That has nothing to do with power. Most of Baers opponents were small just like Louis was.

Bowe would have made short work of Baer quicker than Louis did.

Gotta give Bowe the edge for being the better fighter, with a great chin and a big heart. He's not gonna break, and the odds are good he could ship some Baer bombs, and he's got the advantage in every area but punch for punch power, imo.

Better craftsman, faster, more intense.

 

Agreed, and I am a huge Baer fan, but a prime Bowe was just so much better in terms of overall ability. Baer would have a decent puncher's chance, but that's about it.

 

I´d favour Bowe at his best but not by much. Baer could take it and dish it out, had gread stamina and can fight from the backfoot if he has to. We don´t know how good Bowe´s chin really is. Depends on that, if he can take Baer´s shots he wins. If he can´t he´s gonna get knocked out.

 

I would favor Bowe as well, but his wide open defense is likely to get him caught a couple of times along the way. He should win, but if not careful he might need to pray for a late low blow to save him!
