I say Calzaghe with a fairly easy victory, easier than Kessler.

Responding with Calzaghe when answering this question is considered a little taboo around here.

Jones has the fast-twitch muscle fibres, Calzaghe the superior skillset.

I'd pick Jones over 12 in a tight one. I think that Calzaghe may have been able to get Roy Jones over 15. Possible. Put it this way, 15 rounds improves Calzaghe's chances.

I'd say Roy Jones, Calzaghe is fantastic dont get me wrong, a true champion but Roy Jones was something else in his prime.

    Jones UD or Split Decision.

until Saturday, I would have said Jones. But Joes effective ackwardness, solid chin, southpaw stance, scrappy nature, and decpetive skill would hold him in good stead against Jones, who had superhuman reflexes, quick hands, and a big punch. But I think the skill might just prevail in this case.Don't forget, it was a prime Jones who's head exploded against Montell Griffith, causing him to get dq'd.If Montell gave Roy fits, would would Joe have done to him?

I would make Roy a slight favorite... 60/40, along those lines. Jones has sick speed & power at 168 but Calzaghe has an iron chin, incredible workrate (Jones doesn't, he may lose some rounds because of that), has very fast hands as well, fights extremely smart (his adaptation made him win 5 out of the last 6 rounds vs Kessler) and is akward.

A defensive fighter like Toney would lose 9 out of 10 vs Jones, but an unorthodox fighter with a high workrate like Joe has a good shot.

Jones by decision, we would see some serious exchanges with both men in their prime though.

roy jones at prime at 168, hmm that man was imortal for a while.i see roy being the faster and stronger between the two.it would be a war but prime jones would beat jc.

they might ? if now jc would stop roy i think.

Joe gets the slight nod from me, because:

    1) Joe's a southpaw, and we've seen that unorthodox fighters give RJJ problems (Griffin)

    2) Workrate -- Joe is far, far busier than RJJ, who preferred fighting in spurts

It would have been a great fight, how come it never happened?

I don't see Roy seriously hurting Joe. Joe's speed -- while not as good as Roy's -- would have given Roy fits because he was not used to fighting fast-handed fighters. Throw in Joe's southpaw stance and I take Joe in a very close UD (by 2 points, say) over an out-thrown and out-landed Jones.

If they fought 10 times, I certainly could see Jones winning 5, and I think Jones would have a better chance in a rematch after he had actually experienced Joe's speed and stance, but the first time around, I give the nod to Joe.

If Glen Johnson and Antonio Tarver could beat Jones, and Griffin could get RJJ DQ'd, I can certainly see Joe beating him.

Would have been a great match.

For now, though, RJJ should stay as far away from Joe as possible or Jones would be embarrassed.

Jones didnt murderously beat a green Hopkins.
    Didnt knock out Toney.

So why on earth would he murderously beat Calzaghe ? Someone who has the adaptability of Hopkins, and the speed of Toney.

Roy has the advantage in power, reflexes, and a slight advantage in speed.

    Joe has every other intangible.

    This is a 50/50 fight.
