Ok prime Jones runs over Calzaghe. First off, why didn't Calzaghe fight Jones back then. Because he knew he would lose. Now I have a lot of respect for Calzaghe and I think he's a great fighter but he is in no way going to win against Jones. Second, people are comparing them both at 35, Joe's style and what he depends on allow him to be succesful for a while. Jones purely relied on speed and reflexes, the first things that go in an older fighter. Once those are gone he really had no intangibles to fall back on. But when he was in his prime with all the speed and reflexes he kills Calzaghe.

Roy Jones said he wouldnt fight Calzaghe because he wasnt a big enough name in the states.

The fight was never an option, they werent even in the same weight class for christ sake.

Jones wins, the result depends on how durable Calzaghe is.

Man, I gotta say Jones by a land slide. Do you guys not realize that Jones was on another planet of skill completely by himself when he was in his prime. He had speed, reflexes and incredible power.

Calzaghe is great but a prime RJJ was an absolute force of nature at 168lbs.

Jones Jr, by close UD. :good

Jones is simply better than Calzaghe at 168. Jones by UD.

Calzaghe was dominating Reid with ease until the hand trouble. A young pre-prime Calzaghe. On the other side you have the Griffin fights.

Calzaghe - Kessler would be the highest quality fight ever seen and nobody, absolutely no body can legimately and copnfidently pick a winner.

Against the extremely fast, Calzaghe who also possesses great reflexes Jones adavantages are effectively erroded. As you said without them...this is an incredibly strong argument that supports a Calzaghe win.

You post all that crap and then come back with 'I respect Roy'

Since when did Calzaghe develop great KO power by the way? You think those slappy shots are going to KO prime Jones?

The answer to this question hasn't changed just because Calzaghe finally became a unified champion at damn near 36 years of age....Jones wins by slaughter. If Kessler can wobble Calzaghe then I dread to think what Jones would do.

people seem to think that kessler has got a weak punch in the build up there was alot of talk about him having alot of power especially in his right and up close which is where he caught calzaghe, jones jr would have been asking what day it was if he got caught with those shots. and when people say look at jones jr fighting heavyweights, please just dont mention it if he fought any of the top 30 heavyweight fighters ever he would got ktfo. my money would stil b on calzaghe all the points that people say make jones jr so much worse than jones jr arent very realistic because calzaghe is strong in the same areas the only things that he can edge calzaghe on is speed ever so slightly and power quite easily mayb yes. calzaghe diets hard 4 a week taking in about 1500 calories during the whole week just 2 make the weight can u imagine how strong he will be up a division and he WILL still keep his speed aswel, calzaghe walks around like this naturally he wont have to take steroids to move up

People are forgetting that RJJ was a great athlete, but doesn't have the chin/heart/will of Calzaghe.

I believe Calzaghe would drag him into deep waters and outwork him.

Calzaghe would have been the one man to give him a great fight. I just think Calzaghe's workrate would give him a close UD.

    IMO.
