Prime Castillo vs Marquez @ 135

I cant make up my mind on this one.

Prime Castillo was a beast but he could have off days. a quick counter puncher like JMM would make him pay but i dont think he could TKO him. Im talking about the version that gave PBF hell and as i scored it beat him.

Thats like a Juan Diaz times 2. I dont know though. Diaz also was known for having a solid chin and he was TKOd by JMM. That same Diaz also was a less powerful version of JLC though. Hmmm cant decide.

Great fight, But seeing as we are matching styles...
JLC's left hook would be the key (AKA JMM's poison)

Castillo by decision or possible TKO.
Left hook drops JMM enough times to prompt a stoppage or pts advantage.

 

Do you think Castillo would be able to land that left hook enough though? JMM gets hit 1 or 2 times with big shots then he usually adjusts to them. Not to mention Castillos left hook is not exactly fast. If JMM is getting stopped which i really doubt i think it would be because of constant nonstop pressure with all sorts of punches not just hooking with him.

Also how do you see Castillo taking JMMs uppercuts? Castillo is a come forward guy he would be walking right into those big uppercuts similar to the one he put Diaz down with.

 

Lets not forget Castillo's natural bigger size & heavy hands at 135lbs.
JLC's chin at 135lbs was solid enough to absorb JMM's uppercuts IMO.

Great ****ing fight pick em really. JLC at 135 was a beast an educated pressure fighter devastating body puncher with an iron will and chin.

 

Castillo by controversial decision in a great fight.

Similar to Castillo-Johnston II.

 

JMM doesn't possess the firepower to stop a fighter as durable and strong as Castillo in my opinion. Not at 135lbs.

 

Thats why i dont see JMM stopping him either but i think people are exaggerating with saying JMM would not be able to get his respect.

Corrales was able to get his respect and he was no where near as crafty as JMM. Obviously he was a harder puncher but Castillo could see all his punches coming. JMM is known for hurting fighters when they dont see it coming which a guy with Castillos defense and high offense definitely would give him those options.

Ok ima say it JMM based on his counter punchiing and being given alot of opportunities to land flush. Yes he probably tastes the canvas but makes adjustments to avoid it again.
JMM something like 7-5 8-4.

Real tough pick 'em fight.. I'd have to lean towards JMM in this one.. Castillo would be putting the pressure on early and forcing JMM to make mistakes, but JMM would eventually get into his groove and start landing pin-point accurate counter-punches and uppercuts.. JMM by a close decision..

 

JMM as good as he is doesn't have the power to keep Castillo off him, nor the defence and chin to stay with the powerful Castillo till the end. Castillo knocks him out.

I don't think he's a counterpuncher. Counterpunching (to me) means dodge or slip a punch and get one off yourself. JMM in my opinion is the most skilled brawler ever. He doesn't so much dodge or slip punches, he lets the other guy fire off and fires back. And because he has supreme balance and vision, he makes more damage than the other guy.
That's why Pacquiao was made for him. And that's why JLC is made for him. Marquez would wear him down, little by little, until a T/KO in the championship rounds.

Marquez' weakness is his offensive game. If his opponent starts to jab him, he looks a little lost sometimes. He is too slow on his feet. That's why Floyd was the worst opponent for him.
