I must say when I posted this thread I never expected a 50/50 split. Flabbergassed I am! Byrd easily outboxes Haye. Yet alot of people are wishing the knight in shining armor Haye will come and give us a Undisputed Champion. Ain't gonna Happen. He may have personality but he hasn't enough tools in the shed. Byrd IMO an All Time Great. During his heavyweight prime NO ONE wanted to fight him. For good reason. He made u look silly in the ring.
I cant see Haye winning this one having in mind his fights against Fragomeni and Mormeck. No way Byrd would've ever troubled that hard with them.
Prime David Tua and prime Klitschkos could NOT stop Byrd in 3, not to mention Ibeabuchi. What the hell are you talking about? I think Haye wins a close but clear decision here in a very very very boring fight.
Byrd by stoppage. Byrd's defence and awkward southpaw style will frustrate Haye, who will have his moments early on but find himself behind on the scorecards and be taken out chasing a late KO of his own. Haye hasn't beaten anyone to suggest he could either outbox or stop Byrd - who in his prime was only stopped by Ike in a fight that he should have won. Took bombs from Vitali (and won) and also from Wlad hearing the final bell.
I think a prime Byrd would give Haye all kinds of trouble.Byrd would be too fast for him and I dont think he would be able to get back into the fight late on as Haye seems to tire.Byrd by decision.
Bad style matchup for Byrd as he cannot use his slick boxing due to Haye's blistering hand speed, he'd be set up with the jab and be nailed with the right hand quite a bit and most likely lose on points possibly gets ko'd at any point
This Haye's wins at HW aren't much better than Hide's, I don't think he has the gas tank to throw enough volume to outpoint Byrd. That said, Byrd was a guy who was good at making his opponents look bad and a one armed Vitali was up on the cards. He hasn't exactly a ton of clear cut wins over top opposition (neither has Haye) and an older Byrd was only able to get a draw against the ghost of Golata and got a gift against McCline (same age as himself) and Fres Oquendo (who got "stopped" by John Ruiz in his next fight, a horrible fight with a bad stoppage, but he was getting beat up by freaking Ruiz).
