Cooney, I can't see him outboxing him like he did against Foreman, and if they start trading ala Eddie Gregg, Cooney is much taller and longer, and his punches connect first.
I think it really comes down to who gets the other in serious trouble first. Either way I don’t see it lasting long.
What a fight! The Cooney who beat up Jimmy Young and destroyed the faded Norton and Lyle is a handful for anyone. Morrison fought brilliant in the first 4 rounds before Mercer took him out but previously looked awful agaisnt Yuri Vaulin and later struggled with Joe Hipp and a shot Carl Williams. The Foreman victory was his best but the Bent defeat was shocking. Cooney didn´t have a great defense (Holmes proved that) but Morrison was there to hit by anyone who was capable of threwing anything back. Anything could happen but I think Cooney´s hook is harder especially to the body and I think he would blast Tommy out in 3.
If Gerry didn't have points deducted for low blows he would have been ahead at the time of the stoppage?
Thats true but it was bogus that anyone had him leading. While Gerry gave a good account of himself there’s no way he was getting the better of Holmes
