spinks had enough pop to keep fighters off him he manged to keep taylor off him. trust me when he and mayweather had that beef the fight could have been made

 

i love that highlight reel spinks was robbed against taylor

 

Cory embarassed Jermaine and I had him winning going away, it was damn near a shutout, Haymon and Co weren't going to let that happen.

 

I always was curious about this when it was a possible fight 8 yrs ago or so

HBO kept feeding Floyd these big opponents who were gonna be too big and strong and fight like Castillo and just out muscle him and pressure him

but he kept on clearly out pointing them and stopped some of them

i was like why not put floyd in with a guy like him

floyd feasts off mistakes and counter opportunities Cory doesnt open up much and this would be tactical

probably similar to Hopkins vs Wright where it would be dull and the guy with more patience and willing to not make too many risky mistakes eeks it out

 

Mayweather by UD in a snoozefest

 

I'd go with the common opinion of Floyd by wide UD in a boring, boring match.

In his prime Spinks would have given him fits because of his style. A long southpaw who could counter had good movement a good jab defense and good hand speed. It would have been an interesting chess match.

 

I remember that Taylor-Spinks fight. I thought Taylor would simply run right through Spinks because he was the bigger man and was riding high on top of the MW division boy was I wrong. Spinks made Taylor look like ****. Spinks in his prime is often underrated due to styles but at his peak he was a quality operator that was a nightmare to face stylistically.

 

A better fight would have been Vernon Forrest
