I'll go for David Tua because Im confident he cant get inside and connect. IMO I dont think Wilders past opponents hit as hard as Tua. Tua also knocked out some good opponents like former champions Moorer, Rahman, Ruiz and prospects like Maskaev and Quendo. Also Im a kiwi so its a bit bias
It would probably look a lot like Lewis-Tua with Wilder controlling the range and keeping Tua at the end of his Jab. Tua just didn't perform well against guys with that much size advantage over him.
Wilder on points for me. Whilst Wilder may not be perfect he holds all the advantages over Tua. Also Tua struggled with various fighters throughout his career needing last minute stoppages to bail him out. Jeff Wooden, David Izon, Rahman ×2, Maskaev, Oquendo. If they can do it for 10 or 12 rounds so too can Wilder?
Big Tua fan here. I ask myself this though; is Wilder better than Prime Oquendo, Rahman, Maskaev who out boxed Prime Tua for 90% of their respective fights, and, is he half as good as Bird, Lewis who shut him out with little trouble? Personally I can't see Tua winning this.
Tua would get inside, land and hurt Wilder. He would then finish Wilder. This is a pretty clear win for Tua given Wilder's openess, lack of footwork and poor punch resistance.
Hard to say honestly, as long as Wilder keeps away from Tua he wins a clear UD. He actually has the athleticism and the jab to pull this off as long as he's disciplined and doesn't showboat or try anything stupid. Saying that, Tua has an excellent puncher's chance due to his power and Wilder's vulnerability. Put quite simply, if he is given the chances that Molina had to hit Wilder, Wilder would be KO'ed.
