I think that this would be an interesting match up. How do you think it would go?

Could end up like Dempsey/Willard as Dempsey could be too explosive and fleet of foot. But he'd have to be careful because Foreman's power was yet dangerous

Well Tommy Morrison adapted to the situation and was able to get off first and then vacate the area. Dempsey would also be the quicker man if he was willing to do some of that he may win a decision. Dempsey showed some ring intelligence in the opening minute of the Willard fight.

Foreman is going to use the jab and belly bump the smaller crouching fighter. Push him back and drain their foward momentum and also some of their confidence.

If Dempsey has the humility to try finesse he wins on points. If he goes straight into Foreman I`d say 70/30 for Big George.

No version of 190 pound Dempsey could beat Foreman. Boxing has changed a lot since the 1920's be it skill wises, wait wise or anything else wise. Dempsey would be starched out in a 1 round or 2 by any version of Foreman.

The 90's Comeback Foreman, in realty, was a Gentle Giant, deep in his heart. To beat the totally vicious Dempsey, he needs to return to the Frazier I / Norton fight mentality...i.e. "now i am going to kick some bass".

A young Foreman would be a most dangerous proposition for Dempsey

Dempsey tko. The fight would get stopped, 90s Foreman took too many punches. Could anyone here realistically see any version of Foreman take 50% of Dempsey's punches over 12-15 rounds and not be out cold?

I struggle a bit with people who pick Dempsey to beat someone like George Foreman ( even the old version ).

The Manassa Mauler is a great story, a guy who epitomises the " roaring twenties " and he was probably the most popular heavyweight champion in history ( of course at first he wasnt popular and was thought by many to be both a " draft dodging slacker " and also a thug. ) by the time he fought Tunney.

Despite all of that Dempsey couldnt knock out Tommy Gibbons who in reality was a light heavyweight, was nearly kayoed by Luis Firpo, took 12 rounds to stop Bill Brennan and was accused by many of having loaded gloves when he beat Willard ( a claim Willard went to the grave believing to be true ) to win the title.

Dempsey NEVER fought a proper sized, prime aged heavyweight who could actually fight in his title reign, I would argue Jack Sharkey might have been the first genuine, decent heavyweight Dempsey actually faced. Tunney wasnt a real heavyweight even though he was a really top shelf fighter skills wise.

After beating Firpo Dempsey sat on the title for three years which is-was unheard of. No other champion has every done so at any weight as far as I know.

Despite these actual facts the Mauler's biggest fans type out endless spiels asserting how Dempsey would smash guys like Foreman, Tyson, Liston, Lennox Lewis, Ali, Holmes etc.

To be honest they remind me of religious zealots, they have no evidence but it ddoesnt stop them preaching.

    Cheers All.

Because of Foremans tendency to grab and push fighters off him I do not see Dempsey getting around this regardless of his speed
