i think dempsey would overwelm a smiling tactical johnson and would get punished inside,it was rumored dempseyu ko,d johnson in canada in a rich gamblers fight ,prob. not true but same ending i.m.op.

I think Johnson better squeeze Dempsey's biceps to control his punches or wear him down, otherwise he's doomed.

    Dempsey would KO Johnson.

The whole squeezing biceps thing is just nonsense.

    Absolutely.
Johnson was Johnson by late KO or wide, wide points margin. The Galveston Giant was definitely guilty of lacking motivation once he held the title but always had more than his opponent could handle such was his dominance.
Johnson's rise to the title took years. He was made to fight hard and fight often against all the best, black and white. He was easily the best of his generation and I shudder to think how good he'd be if born post war era. :admin Can't say the same for Dempsey, he would be regularly outboxed by many ATG.
Johnson is a legend and in my top 3 of all time. :bbb

Most don't get Johnson who was a better , heavyweight version of Bernard Hopkins. His ring intelligence, defense, angles, moves, he was like a cobra that strangled you and beat you down. He paced himself and could not care less about taking risks to please an audience. He simply dominated.

He would tie Dempsey up, tire him out and chop him up. Dempsey certainly had a chance but he'd have to be all that legend alludes to plus one.

I pick Johnson. In his prime I just don't think there's a fighter who could blow him out early. Prime (as good as) Dempsey fought a tough, tough fight against Gibbons who was able to bring Dempsey inside for stretches. Imagine what Johnson would do in those situations? I think Johnson would win quite wide on points.

I picked Dempsey by decisio, but I'm really just guessing. This fights a tough call, and it could be gritty all the way, or turn into a whoopin' for either guy.
