Prime Dempsey vs Tunney.

Dempsey caught him past prime no doubt he would catch him and ko him in his prime.

 

I pick Tunney again, there was only 2 years difference, and if that was evened out, I don’t know how much difference it would make, maybe Dempsey catches him a bit more, but outside of the knockdown, the fights weren’t competitive, and Tunney knocked him down too.

People are looking at that one moment and going ‘See, if Dempsey could do that when past his best, imagine what he’d have done in his prime’, but like I said, the fights weren’t competitive outside of that, and Tunney also dropped Dempsey.

It wasn’t like Dempsey was having consistent success, he simply had one moment.

It’s like me saying ‘Shavers dropped Holmes when 35, imagine what he’d have done to him a few years earlier’, in-fact it’s more realistic, because Shavers had more success against Holmes than Dempsey had against Tunney.

 

I think the result would be the same Tunney by decision. Would have been closer maybe some fireworks but Tunney was a better boxer and Dempsey was known to have problems with boxers. They say Greb was beating him up in sparring sessions.
