And as usual the Floydian slip you guys always drop - You don't actually point out the holes becuase the points in the original post were all valid.

Fact: 99% of the worlds boxing media, the fighters, the people and analysist at the fight stated De la Hoya ran for the last three rounds as a tactical error - The 1% who state otherwise are you clowns and Boxing t a l k . com

Floyd at no time in the DLH imposed his will or dominated DLH, the reason the fight was a split decision is because Oscar did all the work, while Floyd stayed behind his shoulder and countered.

I scored the fight 7-5 to Floyd, but I have no doubt a prime DLH erases that defecit given a prime Floyd wouldn't fight Oscar any different in my view.

    Probably.

I started a thread on Tarver - Jones I awhile back and was surprised how many people actually thought Tarver had won. I guess it's natural to overreact when a talented fighter is actually pressed.

Its a valid comparison, but Tarver, a little like Oscar in the Trinidad fight, took his foot off the gas in the championship rounds and didn't put them in the bank.

Unlike Danny_R though, there is a difference between taking your foot of the gas and running out of it.

haha 'Floydian slip'. Haven't heard that one before. Nice.

Thinking about this more I think it's just too hard to pick who would win prime 4 prime at 147. The empirical evidence to ground any argument is just too limited: Floyd is not really proven at the 147 level he would need to be at to win this fight. He's looked good at that weight, and his raw ability certainly invites speculation that he could be that good, but we just don't know. Fighting DLH at 154, even taking into acount that DLH was faded, you also have to consider that 154 is a bit too high for Floyd, DLH can carry weight much higher than PBF and so had a considerable size advantage there. At 147 it would be a different ballgame. But like I said, Floyd has only fought Baldomir at that weight, and Gatti at 140, so who the hell knows. My 'hunch' is that Floyd would be good enough, but it's just speculation.

heidigger - A rational and even post. It's always a pleasure to discuss with the more rational folk on here. Scar is good too.

Valid points all that you raise.

You have great point but what your doing is comparing prime oscar to Floyd today. you got away from the point. Floyd was a totally diffrent fighter bank then. He Jabbed he threw combinations and went for Knock Outs as he felt he should be a 10 million dollar fighter at the time. You gotta compare prime floyd with prime oscar bro
