I think the best Earnie Shavers rings Tyson's bell post prison.:bbb

I still bet on Tyson he was still a force post prison not nearly what he was during his first title reign but still a top notch fighter. But Shavers would have a much better punchers chance as Tyson defense wasn't nearly what it once was. Still I think Tyson has a better chance of scoring an early knockout then Shavers.

the version of Tyson that fought Bruno 2 and Holyfield 1+2 demolishes Shavers,

'97 onwards, Tyson was ready to be taken though

WTF is it with all these Foreman noobs starting threads on Tyson all the time?

OMG please! Shavers was garbage! He was basically a mediocre fighter with a HUGE punch. Tyson had a dependable chin all the way up until the Lewis fight, where he was shot to ****.

Shavers NEVER had a dependable chin, and wouldn't be able to handle Tyson's power and handspeed AT ALL.

In 96, Tyson still had MORE than enough left in the tank to demolish Shavers within 2.

    Total mismatch.

The overrating of Shavers is incredible.

Shavers wouldn't beat Mike until the end stages of Tyson's career. Perfect example of a puncher getting wildly overrated to the point where people ignore his own chin and defensive issues.

At this point Tyson was still dangerous for a few rounds. Up until 1997,I'd still make him favourite against Earnie.

I'd still pick a 1995 Tyson to do to Shavers what he did to Bruno.

Shavers had a massive punch, but he wasn't that fast, didn't have the greatest chin or defense, and had questionable condition. Tyson was superior in every area except maybe one punch tonnage, but Tyson was faster and more explosive, better D and chin, and actually kept a faster, more consistent pace. See Shavers vs. Lyle for how Earnie did with another puncher but one with a bit more skill and stamina.

Your just mad that Mikey was scared shitless of Foreman. He had every right to be. Tyson was a much inferior version of Smokin Joe, who was smoked by Big George.

Only way Tyson ever beats Foreman is if we are talking 1988 Tyson vs 2014 Foreman. Just because senior citizen George may have a heart attack in the ring. Other than that, Forgetaboutit.
