Esteban De Jesus is grossly underrated. I dont think he has much problem beating JLC.

Not sure anyone has 'little problems' beatling JLC, go ask Mayweather, Johnston, Cassamayor, Corrales

I'd edge towards De Jesus UD, 7-5, but Castillo's suttle breaking down of his opponent will take a toll on DeJesus down the stretch.

Over 15 rounds, I think he will dominate him. After reading on DeJesus and seeing some of his fights, its just how I see it.

Considering how massive a fighter Castillo is, and how much he cut for fights, who knows.

Over 15 rounds, Dejesus takes a 10-5 type decision, stunning Castillo a few times and clearly outboxing him for most of the rounds, but Castillo comes on strong towards the end as Esteban didn't have great stamina, but he doesn't do enough to take the win.

Yes people forget Castillo and Corrales dehydratedand and rehydrated to around 155lbs, 20lbs takes a big toll especially as fights go on

Difficult to call, both men are vastly underrated at times imo, especially JLC by my reckoning.

Great fight it would be this, both men will have trouble with one another, will be close, i'll take Castillo, but Esteban can do this definitely.

I think Dejesus will knock Castillo out in about 8 or 9 rounds. He is as big a puncher as Corrales, but has much more boxing ability than Chico and he's probably more resilient than Chico. If DeJesus can go 15 with Cervantes and take Duran into championship rounds 3 times out of 3, he's got nothing to worry about as far as being stopped from Castillo.

i too think that castillo wont be stopping his man here SS, but i must say i am a little shocked you'd be taking Castillo to get stopped here, i always thought him very durable. Dejesus may have a chance though, his shots were well-timed and sharp, a major ingredient for some clean ko's.

I don't think he's ever faced a fighter with the combination of DeJesus' boxing ability and power teeto. Guys like Johnston, Casamayor and Mayweather were all good boxers, but lacked genuine pop. Guys like Corrales had power (and did ko him anyway) but not the refinement of a DeJesus.

I get your reasoning, coincides a bit with that sharpness i touched on. I personally dont see a stoppage for either man, though i'd likely think Dejesus would have the better chance of the two. That said i do actually think Castillo was durable as hell. Just my opinion. Corrales was a beast of a puncher, though not of the skillset the man in this thread was.

I just think quite highly of Castillo, also of Esteban. There are question marks of Castillo's resume i understand.

dejesus dealt with the best lw ever and gave a good account of himself. but castillo does not have the tools to be effective against vita. duran and cervantes were both very good technical boxers and that is what made tham effective against dejesus. imo jlc is not in that class. at 135 vita takes a wide decision. jlc may have some moments late in the fight, but too little too late.

Take a look at the Soto fight aswell. JLC's chin was solid but most definitely could be dented. I tend to think his chin is a little overrated but his defence and ring smarts get a little overlooked.

Though I do think this would be a good match for a while, I think Esteban does stop him late. Size isnt going to be as much of any issue as some people might think, De Jesus spent a bit of time at 140, not just towards the end of his career. And if he could hang with physical monsters like Duran and Cervantes, I dont think that will play a major role in this fight.
DeJesus would have achieved so much more if Duran had not been ruling lightweight at the time.

I think Castillo is sturdy enough to go the distance, but DeJesus was so versatile in either boxing or punching when he needed to be, that I see Esteban taking a comfortable 15 round decision.
