If couture was in pride when fedor was, (where the best hw were) he would have not only been beaten by fedor but by nog, barnett, and cro-cop, almost for certain. I think he would also fair equally as bad in prides lhw division as well. as far as couture in the cage with fedor, I dont see him standing a chance fedor would beat him standing and on the ground, by one sided beatdown. fedor getting beat up in the clinch, I just cant see it. couture would have to survive a barrage of punches, then the takedown, followed by vicious gnp. fedor is better at striking much better, he is better on the ground and is dangerous from his back. Couture is not going to stop fedor, so he would have to win a decision. he couldnt break fedor mentally could't submitt him or ko emelianenko. randy would have to outwork fedor for 5 rounds (the opposite is far, far more likely) and not get caught with a submission,or a big punch. if randy gets taken down I doubt he would survive the round its really a horrible match up for randy seeing that he is not big enough to control fedor on the ground for 5 rounds. I wonder what randy's ufc contract is currently? how many fights is he obligated to have before it is up? is it possible he could leave and join strikeforce............ probably unlikely though.
If it's in a cage I give Randy his best chance if he can keep Fedor up against the cage and try roughing up him up with knees and elbows. There's always a chance he could open up a cut with his dirty boxing and Fedor's susceptibility to them but really Fedor is better on the ground, better in the stand up and even in the clinch he is very strong and with his judo he'd be competitive with Randy there. I'd pick Fedor every time but Randy is a top fighter and I'd never rule out an upset with him involved.
Fedor at any stage of his career beats Couture at his best. In the clinch, I still think Fedor's Sambo would beat out Randy's wrestling. But it would'nt matter, Fedor ends this one with a punch.:deal
Love Couture, but Fedor via demolition. I understand where people come from when they're talking about styles etc. I have thing to say to you, "No". Fedor is a stylistic nightmare for Couture. Couture is NOT going to keep Fedor down. Dirty boxing is not going to work because as soon as Couture gives any space to Fedor on the fence Fedor will shrug out. With Fedors wild, fast, and heavy hands he's will easily out-strike Couture.
My head picks Fedor but my heart picks Couture. Couture almost always seemed to find a way to beat guys that he had no business beating.
