RJJ has an asterix over his entire career following that failed test. As does Toney and Mosley. All great fighters to watch but all cheats.

In Floyd's prime he was almost beaten by Castillo. Jones was never almost defeated by anyone in his prime. Therefore I have to say strictly in their primes Roy Jones was more unbeatable by a **** hair. He was "unhittable", too fast to touch. Mayweather could always be hit, and could even be out-boxed at times, he just never could be beaten.

Yep, jones threw caution to the wind, something floyd has never done, and came out purely to KO montell as fast as possible and did so in stunning fashion. Jones could have finished anyone he fought in that manner had he really wanted to. I understand fighting safe, but there comes a time when you gotta man up like Jones did and handle your business. Floyd should have taken notes, and no sucker punching Ortiz does not count

I understand and agree with your point, but taking the question literally, Jones was literally beaten in his prime. I've always thought that a good amount of luck goes into being undefeated as well as exceptional skill. Anyway Jones beaten in his prime Mayweather wasn't. Just answering the question how it was asked not by what was meant.

I remember Ring magazine created this "Perfect Fighter" the ATG #1. They gave all sorts of features including incredible athleticism, heart, chin, stamina, power etc along with ring IQ blah blah. But their perfect fighter actually had 1 loss on their record. The rationale was a perfect should have 1 loss, in order to have felt what it was like to lose and rebound. Although Jones loss wasn't legit, he did have to rebound and take that fighter out which he did in spades. That L can sometimes have mental effects even if you really never lost.
In this context a perfect fighter wasn't viewed as one that was undefeated, it was just being as complete as possible in every aspect mentally and physically too.

Like I said before I agree. Prime for prime Jones is better (mostly athleticism) but was beaten. As to what he learned psychologically from that loss IDK he started losing past prime Hopkins and Mayweather stay on top past prime, they must must have learned something too.

Floyd isn't prime anymore. He's still good, but the thing is, which *****'s will never admit, is he doesnt have anyone to test him in this era. If this was the 90s, fuk me, his out of prime condition would be exposed fast! No way hes getting out of fight at welter with Prime Oscar, Whitaker, Mosley etc without a loss. Floyd is very good, one of the best ever, but he's been very lucky, at the right time, right place sorta thing.

Floyd always looked beatable...as his career never had a dramatic prime

RJJ had a Godlike prime, where fans minds were not conditioned to even imagine him lose...my first wakeup call was the del Valle KD that ended his invincibility aura

I agree there's no one to test him now, but even past prime Floyd should be able to edge out decisions against prime 147 Shane or Oscar (154 different story) but Whitaker should beat him, seeing as Floyd is past prime. Prime Leonard always beats Floyd, however remember Floyd's best weight was 130.

IMO Oscar and Mosley at 147 were beasts, they had lightning speed like Floyd has only kind of come close to facing vs Zab, and we both know Oscar and Mosley would have gotten rid of that same zab inside probably 8 rounds, since their power was ridiculous. Oscar at 135 was even crazier and remember, he took out prime, undefeated Hernandez inside 6 rounds, the man Floyd claims is his greatest victory and fought Hernadez years later after Oscar had made him quit on his stool with a broken nose. Fighters like Castillo and Corales Oscar would have dominated in same manners he did Miguel Gonzales, oba carr etc.
Prime for Prime, 135-154 I would take Oscar in a heart beat. I actually didn't like Oscar at 154 under Mayweather sr. He was at his best with Alcazar when he was on his toes, and back then, Oscar never gassed either. He was always known for closing the show. I look at it like this, a washed up Oscar, one who was MUCH slower and flat footed, lost his pop, still managed to win 3-4 rounds vs a prime Mayweather in the most motivated fight of Floyd's career. A time I believe Oscar was dabbling in drugs and alcohol also. In considering that Oscar gave Floyd all he could handle for about 8 rounds before he gassed, its almost a no brainer the prime monster he once was would beat him.

PBF is not in RJJ`s league... Roy dominated far superior opponents, usually ending them with emphatic KO`s. He wouldn`t lose a minute in his fights. The only guy who gave prime RJJ any trouble got destroyed in the rematch. RJJ had it all, insane speed, crushing one punch power (ask Hill and Griffin) and he fought like the boss...
