Jones started talking about Holyfield after the Douglas fight never happened. And Jones fighting Ruiz had zilch to do with what did or did not happen to Holyfield. Jones could have fought any of the other beltholders at the time but didn't. Just because Ruiz 'beat' Holyfield doesn't mean Roy had to fight him. To suggest such is ridiculous.

We all know why he fought Ruiz. Well everyone it seems but you. :rofl

Of course not he just beat the guy Dm ducked in Lou Devalle, Ko ed hall of famer Virgil Hill and beat Hall of. Famer Reggie. Johnson while becoming undisputed LHW champ !

Your right he just did what Mayweather did and picked on the Gattit's and Baldimors of the world to pick up belts :hi: Go kick rocks Rico your record is tired !

Not really sure why you think winning trinket belts that actually belonged to someone else is a big accomplishment. Him unifying the belts meant nothing.

#1 because 2 of them belonged to DM

#2 because there was already a legitimate linear champion and it wasn't Jones

    Your post was pretty pointless.

Baldomir was THE welterweight Champion. Do you not understand the difference between what Mayweather did and Roy did? Roy fought for vacant trinket belts. Mayweather fought THE champion. Just like how Lennox Lewis was THE Heavyweight Champion NOT John Ruiz.

Your post was full of so much fail it is pitiful :lol:

Really those winning trinkets belonged to Dm or was he stripped because he refused to fight his mando's ? Jones was never handed those belts lets make sure YOU understand that! Devalle was Wba champ when Jones beat him ,Reggie Johnson for the Ibf and the Wbc was vacated by. Jones before Rochi won it so really again what vacant belts are u referring too ?

And yes Floyd fought the champ the best welter on the planet in Baldi you are right ..

How did Ruiz beating Holyfield not have anything to do with it??? You realize it was a HW belt Roy was going for correct? He would not have been a HW champ for beating Holy..:patsch

Had he fought Holy instead, you would be claiming he picked the oldest most shot HW and was afraid of getting mauled and beat up by Ruiz.:deal

Mayweather was **** on for fighting Baldo... No one wanted to see that.. No one cared about lineal.. The lineal champ is not always the best fight.

I can't believe you actually just compared Floyd fighting Baldo to Jones fighting Lennox.:rofl

Roy has many wins that are better than Mayweather's victory over Baldomir. And yes Ruiz is certainly one of them.

    Ridiculous.

    Wow!

You've not countered the rest of my post.

Could you be admitting that you've been harsh on Roy Levista?

Roy spoke with Holy before he agreed to fight Buster. But why would a reluctant LHW have done such a thing?

Roy wanted his first fight at HW to be against Holy, because he'd been interested in him for a while, as above.

They held talks, but Holy drew with Ruiz.

Roy then decided to remain at LHW to weigh up his options. He beat Glen Kelly, and then there was the famous HBO argument with Hopkins. When that fight didn't materialise there was talk of him fighting Jirov. But he was only going to get paid an extra $500,000 on top of what he was getting to fight Clinton Woods. So he fought a mandatory against Woods. Then after the Woods fight, he turned his attention to John Ruiz.

We've discussed Ruiz a hundred times.

But again, a reluctant, 34 year old LHW, wouldn't contemplate fighting ANYBODY at HW.

    It wouldn't happen.

There were other beltholders he wasn't held to just fighting the Ruiz-Holyfield winner. He had 3 other options.

Loudon keeps saying he fought Ruiz because he 'beat' Holyfield. That has nothing to do with the other fighters who had belts that would have given Roy the same accomplishment had he won.

People can **** on DM all they want some of it is warranted but it wasn't his fault the IBF and WBA stripped him he was willing to defend them. If you know the whole scenario it is quite sickening.

    What sickening scenerio ?

DM "Hey WBA IBF can. I defend against whomever ?

WBA and IBF " No you must fight your manadatories

DM "Hey WBO can I milk your belt and defend against whom ever "

WBO " Sure Dm your the greatest "

DM to his manager " here get rid of theae belts for me (wba and ibf)
