Could Patterson's speed and guile overcome Baer's power? If Patterson had a better chin, I'd confidently pick him, but with his chin, I don't know. Who takes it?

Floyd is more talented, but I'd pick Big Max to overpower him.

Yeah Patterson liked to mix it up. Not a great idea against Max.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a decision for Floyd though.

Depended on which Max Baer showed up. Could have been a very dangerous fight for Floyd.

Clown Baer, Floyd easily UD's. The one or two Bad-bass Baer versions, Floyd would be wise to avoid (see Ingo I fight).

    I still think 50 :50

It's make me think. Why patterson vs cleveland never happened.

If that happened I have no doubt about patterson vs baer outcome.

Baer by KO. He had the punch and chin to beat Floyd.

That's a real possibility. With Patterson's skills, it seems like he'd be able to take Baer and even Marciano. The problem is, his chin would likely do him in against them. Patterson was better skilled than Johannson and Liston IMO, but as we found out, all it takes is one well placed shot and all that skill goes out of the window.

Both men had certain weaknesses the other could exploit. 50/50

Baer would win from behind. Max would catch Patterson at some point and it would be all over.

Patterson out boxes the Max that Braddock did.

Skill wise Patterson easy but his chin was shaky and Max could really punch. 50/50.

Max often fought dirty as well so Patterson may be in for some back hand blows and shots to the back of the head that you can't see coming.

Baer is all wrong for Patterson.

Patterson had the better all-around skills, but Baer was always dangerous. Tommy Loughran handily outpointed him but said Baer hit him a shot that made him think he had broken all his ribs. Braddock won the title from him, but Baer rallied to win the last round but it was too little, too late. If Floyd could box and last to the end he could win it, but that's a big 'if.' Johansson I (and Ingo almost KO'd him in the first round of their third encounter) and Liston I and II showed that Patterson was vulnerable to big punchers. I think Maxie catches him somewhere along the way, and probably in the early rounds.
