Who would win between a prime Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. prime Sugar Ray Leonard?

    Sugar Ray Leonard.

Mayweather's best was at 130. This is unfair, it is like putting Leonard to compete against the best Super Middleweights.

Leonard beats Mayweather at 147...I've been over this enough. If you want me to analyze it, please ask.

No it's not, you really need to stop using this excuse. Floyd fits 147 fine and is the #1 fighter there, and has been for some time. It's his best weight aside from 130 given his accomplishments there. Leonard fought at 168 against a bigger fighter once when past his prime and won in a struggle. It was also 28 pounds past his starting weight, whereas 147 is 17 pounds above Floyd's starting weight.

As to the question, use the search function and look up the other 100 threads on the same topic.

I disagree. The "better" argument could be used more fairly than the "greater" argument though, which can't really be justified. Though still, in a head to head matchup, it's a close fight, but I'd favor Robinson.

Seriously, I'm pretty sure there's still a few lurking at the bottom of the front page somewhere.

The real question is . . . . How does this fight end? Does Leonard take it on a decision . . . . Or does Floyd successfully win enough rounds that Leonard has to dig deep and go for a stoppage?

More like: Does Leonard win a Wide UD, or does he decide to turn on the jets and stop Mayweather because he feels like it?

Nothing to do with Floyd winning too many rounds, because that certainly is not happening. If Leonard stopped him, which he very well could, it would be because he was simply of a higher class at that weight(which he was) not because he was forced to dig deep. Floyd is no Tommy Hearns.

    ****, Floyd is overrated.

I've just been seeing how many believe he's some god like invincible boxer and it's hilarious. At 147, he's particularly beatable.

I'd take Leonard by stoppage in about 9 or 10 rounds. He had the speed to nail Floyd flush, the power to hurt him, and the killer instinct to get him the out of there.

No brainer. Ray Leonard wins. Only question in my mind is whether he stops him. Because of Floyd's defensive prowess, I could see him lasting to a decision loss or eventually getting broken down and stopped in rounds 9-15. But broken he would get.
