The fight that never was..................but should have been.

That could have been a legimate fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world.

    Who do yout think wins?

    Lewis by stoppage.

Pretty similar to the Olympic final. Bowe knew it, hence the ceremonial vacating of the WBC title.

Lewis has the edge, but if Bowe trains the way he trained for the 1st Holyfield fight ,he might have a chance...Maybe his Olympic loss to Lewis took a lot away from him.

There's a reason Bowe threw his title in the garbage, and that reason was Lennox Lewis

I have long thought about this one..
I always come to the conclusin that the Bowe from the first Holyfield fight was the "best"
Riddick "Big Daddy" Bowe has/was/will ever be.

That said, That version of Bowe would give any heavyweight past or present all they could handle.
Including Lewis, as far as the ducking goes blame Rock Newman.

I say "Bowe '92" knock's out any version of Lennox Lewis.

If Lewis is smart and keeps the fight at long-range, he wins a deserved points decision. Prime Bowe was a better fighter than he is often given credit for. He would make it competitive, and if Lewis let the action get up close, Bowe's infighting would have him in all sorts of trouble.

I will admit I do underestimate Bowe, but the abiding memory is of him dumping the WBC belt because he was SCARED of being beaten.

His resume, for such a good fighter though, is **** weak. All he has is two wins over Holyfield and the hollow pair of DQ's against Golota.

The last fight he had was interesting, he spent more time looking at Lennox than he did at his opponent......

Lewis Vs. Bowe circa 92-93 remains 1 of "The Greatest HW fight's never made" boxing defo lost something when that fight never happened. And it had the story line to boot, former OLY rematch , revenge ect.... oh well.

If they had met in 92/93 it would have been Bowe's best chance. That was him at his absolute best and would have been up against a version of Lennox who, whilst a physical beast, was a bit raw and not yet at his peak as a boxer. I would have made that 60/40 to Lewis on the grounds that Bowe was plainly intimidated by him. The Lewis of the Golota, Holyfield 1, Grant, Tua, Rahman II or Tyson fights (i.e. late 90s-early 00s) bullies any version of Bowe. Of course thanks to Bowe and his ducking we never got the chance to find out...

I agree, him shitting out of fighting Lennox was appalling - but that action doesn't have any impact on how a fight would go between the two at their peaks.

Bowe's resume was dire and he was shockingly shite against Golota both times, but this is an h2h discussion and the man who beat a prime hw Holyfield twice was a very skilled heavyweight boxer.

As I said, I'd back Lewis to outpoint him, but it would not be easy.

The Holy/Bowe "fan forced glider dickhead" fight was bordering on brilliant... until the clown landed himself ringside.. wiping out a few spectators..... including Bowes prego lady... Holy was magnificent in that fight.

In a roundabout way, I think it does. The fact that Bowe was plainly intimidated by Lewis is likely to mean the fight would have panned out differently to if how it would have done under normal circumstances.

I agree, Bowe at his peak (Holy 1) was a very skilled boxer with a good punch, but he was kept away from big punchers for most of his career. His peak was also very, very short - I can't honestly believe some in America talk about him being a "great" heavy with a straight face as his resume is absolutely **** poor by those standards! I think Lewis would have stopped him but we'll never know...

Having Boxrec'd Bowe just now..... his resume doesn't appear that bad on first sight. But, delve into the records of the better guys he defeated (other than Evander) and none of them did very much afterwards, or were softened up prior to their meeting.

Lewis just had Bowe mentally, as simple as that. If he genuinely felt he could beat him, he wouldn't have effectively vacated the undisputed title.
