These mythical matchups are very stupid imo. I mean this fight occured 1 year after his win over leonard and it was before his big wins over iran barkley, pipino cuevas and davey moore. Benitez would have probably beaten him even if it happened in 1980. The prime benitez beat better fighters too like cervantes, palomino, maurice hope and duran himself. Benitez did much better against hearns too.

I think Benitez was just better at 154 than Duran was.

At any of the lower weights i take Roberto.

I hate that statement as much as any in the sport of boxing. So overused.

Duran by either late round stoppage or UD. It would be a competitive fight but Duran's workrate would wear Benitez down. In there fight in 1982 Duran wasn't at his best he didn't look sharp at all and was tiring. In his prime Duran could go a hard 15 rounds no doubt. Benitez was very slick with subtle moves that he would slip alot of Durans punches but he couldn't slip them all. Duran in his prime would be more elusive himself as he pressed the action moving his head using feints etc.

There's no concrete answer for any fight that didn't actually take place.
