Prime for prime I suspect Hagler would still come in at 160 to Slappys 168 and beat the living **** out of him. Slappy brings nothing to the table that Hagler can't deal with. Hagler by vicious KO.

But beast fighting above his natural poundage?

It's borderline embarrassing how many people on a suppossedly educated forum like ESB continually undermine Calzaghe.

I suppose ESB was once a respected forum, but an avalanche of (amongst others) Calzaghe haters and *******s have long since ruined that.:-:)-:)-(

What does Hagler do better than Calzaghe?

Well, for instance, Hagler's jab is superior to Calzaghe. He threw better combinations. He was better on the inside. He parried shots better. He was more accurate. As he really showed late in his career, he had great versatility to switch up his style against a great fighter like Hearns and do it to perfection.

What advantages does Calzaghe have? Speed and size (which is the main reason why people who pick Calzaghe, do so).

Interesting fight... I really dont know who wins. If Hagler could cut the ring off and get Joe to trade then Hagler wins but I just dont know if he would be able to do that. I really dont think Joe is bigger either, Hagler was a very muscular 160 pounds and Joe probably has a bigger waste so I wouldnt say Calzaghe is really the bigger of the 2.

Lol you give a pretty detailed response, only to again subtley dis Joe and hype Hag.

    1. Better combos. I disagree. Cal was threw fantastic combos.
    2. Better inside. Cause he was stronger. Against Joe at SMW he wouldnt be.
    3. Parried shots better? perhaps
    4. More accurate. But then JC threw far more punches.
    5. "Switching his style". This was what converted me from a Calzaghe hater into a Calzaghe fan. His fight with Kessler. Kessler was well on his way to KO Joe. Kessler was a fantastic fighter too, so it wasnt as if Joe could just switch to counter mode. Joe was really in deep waters after 4 rounds with Kessler. But somehow, despite being weaker, older, light hitting - against a skilled, prime, intelligent, power punching mastadon,
Joe was able to get he job done.
