    I read he turned down the fight with sam in 1917 along the lines of "I am not ready for langford and I don't want to get killed"

    Tyson is black . Dempsey would have told his manager to reject the fight.
    Suppose Dempsey is forced to fight by gun threats ? Tyson inside 2 , probably 1.

    Also along the lines Sam Langford when asked who would win a fight between Harry Wills and Jack Dempsey was quoted' "well if they do fight,
    my money is on Jack Dempsey for he is the GREATEST heavyweight I've seen ",quote, unquote...When Sam was interviewed near the end of his career, when Dempsey was signing for the Wills,bout which was cancelled
    later on....
