I meant it figuratively. 87/88 Tyson wins 90%-99% of the time against anyone from any era. For all intents and purposes that's virtually invincible. Perhaps prime Clay beats him once or twice in 10 fights; or a couple other greats win once in 20 tries. Prime Tyson was on a different level. Anyone who doesn't see that is blind. I have dvds of all the greats and all the greatest fights, when looking at them all, no one demonstrates the awesome raw athleticism and fight skills that a prime Tyson did. By direct comparison, NOT ONE (with the possible exception of Roy Jones Jr.)

About the only thing that I'll agree with here, is that at his best Tyson would have been a force to recon with for anyone. But this crap about him " beating Clay 9 times out of 10" needs to be backed up with a little bit more than just clips of Tyson knocking out Trevor Berbick..

Prime Holyfield was beaten by Bowe, almost knocked out by Bert Cooper and had a tough time with Alex Stewart.

Holyfield's legacy seems to be inflated due to his win over Tyson. Its kind of funny at times.

I've watched every Clay (Ali) fight several times. I've watched every prime Tyson fight about a dozen times (please bear in mind that i'm talking about the pre-90 Tyson). In fact, i'm in the process of watching them all again, and my opinion stands. I've analyzed both fighters quite a bit over the past 25+ years. I know my stuff. If you have access to any of these fights on dvd or wherever, go back and take the time to watch them and really analyze them. Then you come back and tell me you honestly think that prime Tyson would've lost to Clay/Ali the majority of the time. No friggin way. We can discuss this intelligently after you've watched each fight. We can then discuss aspects of each fight and analyze. However, imho, Clay missed what would've been some of his key prime years 67/68 - 69/70, so who's to say what he would've done during that time if he hadn't gone to prison. Clay was good after prison, but you can see he'd lost a step. His best years were pre-prison. The young super-quick Clay of late 62-67 was imo Clay at his best. That version stands the best chance of beating a prime Tyson. But still, he wouldn't be able to finesse Tyson entirely over 10-15 rounds, he would have to be willing to mix it up a bit, and a young prime Tyson would eventually catch him. This fight would probably be the greatest fight ever though. 86-88 Tyson vs 63-67 Clay. Wow!

Good points. Agreed. Holyfield was a great fighter though.

prime tyson was knocked the **** out by a bum, the same bum who evander did beat early, prime tyson just did beat a shot holmes and a lhw in michael spinks and he was not even in his prime, hell not even the bunch of cans that tyson faced were in their primes, berbick was in his 30s, tubbs was not in his prime, pinklon thommas was not in his prime, smith was not in his prime, holmes did beat the younger versions of many of these guys. tyson never faced a great fighter like bowe in his prime, evander faced anyone, tyson did beat garbage during his prime. it is why he looked invincible

87-88 Tyson (under Kevin Rooney) is unbeatable. The end. Period.

Shiet. I'm a huge fan/supporter of Tyson and I don't buy that for a second.

Go back and evaluate Holyfield's fights, and compare to prime Tyson 86 - 89. Evaluate their competition similarities. There is nothing in Holyfield's resume that suggests he was better than 86-89 Tyson, or that he necessarily faced better fighters. There is however, in fact, some evidence to suggest he wasn't as good as Tyson prime for prime. Shall we evaluate?

Ali was taken to death by Frazier who was KO'd by Foreman in 2 rounds who was KO'd by Ali in 8.

    Evander has more qualities

So now Holyfield is better than Clay? Is this what you're effectively saying?!
