Cheers:good What people nowadays bye into is the..."well Tyson fights like Frazier and Foreman obliterated Frazier so he must do it to Mike". Yet totally missing the point that Tyson fights as much like Frazier as Hatton fights like Cotto. They are similar in ways but nothing alike at all, if you get my drift.
I think there is a difference between getting off the deck because you were caught with a punch that stunned you and getting off the deck after taking a tremendous accumulation of punishment. I'd favor Mike, All said- he has a lot more to work with.
Let examine this further. George Foreman in his first career faced 2 fighters that could be considered big punchers; Ron Lyle and Joe Frazier (twice). He was down 4 times during that period. Mike Tyson in his pre-prison career faced 3 fighters that could be considered big punchers; Frank Bruno, James BoneCrusher Smith and Donovan Razor Ruddock (twice). He was down once during that time period. Advantage Tyson 1st career Foreman was 5-2 (2KO) in fights that went 7 rounds or more. Pre-prison Tyson was 6-1 (3KO) in fights that went 7 rounds or more. Advantage Tyson No of 1 punch KO's scored over ranked contenders: Tyson: 5 (Berbick, Tubbs, Williams, Tillman, Stewart) Foreman: (please fill in the blank) Advantage Tyson
Close call IMO... Either man could win. Both men were very intimidating and I wonder who would win the psychological battle. Tyson is quicker and should get there earlier but when Foreman lands Tyson may well become cautious as he did in his career. I really can't call it. I'd imagine the fight to appear one-sided to whoever wins but at the same time a rematch could still go either way.
Are you just inventing your own criterion here? If this does prove anything it's that Tyson is the more likely winner of a long fight. That's very probably true. Unfortunately for him it won't be a long fight, he goes down squealing at the end of the 6th. Failing to come out for Round 7.
Tyson has the tools to perform better than Frazier here. A much better starter, fast hands, great power, solid chin (both equal to Foreman), better movement and technique and a tighter defense. Tyson won't want to make this one a street fight but providing he picks his shots economically he's fave here.
Who mentioned the Frazier fight? Tyson does indeed have all the tools to win, including movement, speed, etc. Tyson could adopt a winning strategy it's true, but when he took a punch, he generally had a hizzy-fit and always traded blow-for-blow, which would see him doomed. Although many here are failing to recognise Foreman's fine jab which could be a factor. It wouldn't in my opinion, just Tyson forgetting his game-plan and trading and, almost inevitably, losing.
No-one did, but I just don't think the "Foreman eats every swarmer for breakfast" opinion that seems commonplace with quite alot of people isn't always 100% the case hence why I dropped it in- Foreman would have his hands full here. Tyson is the one I'd favour, if no-one else.
Fair enough, but I didn't and you were answering me it seemed. Still, I believe Tyson would trade as his career generally showed when he was hit solidly. Foreman meanwhile appears to be letting Lyle hit him cleanly at one stage as if to prove a point. As if Tyson would do this. He was like a big kid spitting out his dummy when he took anything resembling a clean shot.
