I wanna start off by saying while Calzaghe has a good chin, it's a bit overrated by some. An arguement some might make is that he took some flush shots from Kessler... some flush shots. While Kessler had some success in tagging Calzaghe with good shots Calzaghe was having even more success in avoiding them. Jones on the other hand will not have as much trouble tagging Joe with shots as did Kessler, especially the lead right which if Calzaghe had a bit of trouble avoiding Hopkins' then he'll have a world of trouble with Jones'. I think Jones was as equally as powerful as anyone Calzaghe as ever fought, including Kessler.. the only reason why it might seem as if Kessler might be a bit more powerful is because of his aggressive nature.. Jones on the other hand had deceptive power. I used to always say Jones would win a UD over Calzaghe prime for prime, but now I'll say TKO.. and I'll call it round 9. :good
Calzaghe would be the fastest fighter Jones has ever faced. Jones would never have fought Calzaghe in his prime, he refused to fight Michalczewski for the biggest payday of his life!
That's hardly a knock on Joe, though. Prime Roy is about the biggest ***** of a matchup for anyone at that weight.
Link..... Oh and before you even say it, lets get the magic words out there. Who are the cab drivers and postmen he fought throughout his entire prime? Since you love to say it, but never actually name them when asked, I figure I'd cut you off at the pass.
I'm not saying Joe was on shaky legs after the knockdown, I'm making the Hopkins and Jones comparisons because I feel he's far superior to Hopkins in punching power.
I don't think Roy would stop him, but he'd win very wide, KD him in the process also. Getting a flash KD doesn't equate to getting stopped by anybody, Calzaghe getting KD'd by Roy would just make him more cautious, he's also got some of the fastest recovery around. He'd get busted the **** up, but he's too durable to get stopped at 168, some of the 175 monsters would stop him though.
Numbnuts.. Michalczewski is just as much to blame for the fight not happening. As for Calzaghe he insisted that Jones come to Wales for the fight. Is everyone that refuses to go to Wales to fight a relatively unknown at the time considered ducking? You have a better case saying Hopkins ducked Calzaghe rather than Jones.
Answer the question....name them. I know who they are....there are only 2 of them. A cop and a sanitation worker (one who was ranked in the top 10, who was unbeaten, and would later on beat DM). You claim it was his whole career. Now name all these guys. Or continue to look silly whenever I call you on it.
