Prime for prime I'd pick Roy Jones to stop Calzaghe.

It would be yet another kind of fight for Calzaghe. He fights a bit differently against each opponent. JC would shine more against a RJJ type - but prime for prime; RJJ was unbeatable. Then again, nobody have beaten JC - especially when they have tried to box.

    I will not come on.

Roy Jones Jnr style was/is terrible - It's falability demonstrated as soon as he lost a step or two in speed.

Joe doesn't have the power to stop or even slow Roy down.

yeah, but thorton gave chris eubank, who the brits used to be crazy about, one of his toughest fights at 168. i saw the fight on TV, and eubank was all swollen up in the face at the end of that fight. jones played with thorton when he fought him.

After watching Calzaghe struggle against a 43 yr old version of Hopkins,

    Jones Slices him up,

Toney would be brutal vs Calzaghe probably Koing him and countering him all night and Hopkins in his prime wins a very wide decision maintaining his early dominance

Prime Jones beats prime Calzaghe. Jones might have been content to win a decision.

They both refused to fight each other.

Anyway, jones wins via wide UD.

I don't think anyone stops Joe. Even as he walked into a great right hand in the very first round vs. a BIG Hopkins (I think Beranrd was like 190 in the fight, he refused to tell his fight weight to the HBO crew), it was just a flash KD and Calzaghe wasn't even hurt. Also Hopkins, the great ring master put him off balance and even helped him a little to go down. It was a legitimate KD, but Joe wasn't hurt. His fans were stunned, not Calzaghe! :) But Joe's got a great chin.

Calzaghe is very fast but the prime Jones is of-f*king-course faster. Also Roy would find a lot of openings in the first few rounds, so the same KD is possible and I see him winning the first six. But Joe is very smart and adaptable, and his punch output and constant aggression with less mistakes (he adjusted to Hopkins', Kessler's style to avoing getting countered in the second hald, in fact, that's one of his biggest skills) is good enough to win a few rounds in the last 6. Remember the very early Hopkins giving Jones problems with constant pressure?

It's something like Jones 116-112 or 117-111 in a good, skilled fight. I don't see Calzaghe's style giving Jones TOO MUCH threat, but he'd definitely finish strong to see the cards. But I doubt ha can make it close vs. the prime Superman, Roy Jones Jr.

Who said Calzaghe's still in his very prime? He's fighting the biggest names 34+, but where does that mean he's in his prime BECAUSE he fights the elite 34+? We might've missed his peak vs. the elite.

Calzaghe was 34 when he fought Lacy. 35 when he fought Kessler. Roy Jones was knocked out twice at the age of 35. So what's your point?
