F Liles that win was called linear champ. Mitchell lost after that by disputed decision to Girard but regained his title

Guys like Ward, Froch, Kessler, Bute are no better nor any different to the Reid, Woodhall, Beyer, Mitchells of the era before. The only difference is that due to Lacy vs Calzaghe and Kessler vs Calzaghe, 168 has gotten more credibility in the last few years and people are paying attention to it more.

The idea that Calzaghe didn't face legitimate threats because he couldn't get B-Hop in the ring in 2001 and RJJ anytime from 99 to 2004 is kind of hilarious, Calzaghe beat the standard of the era before (Eubank), his own era (Reid, Woodhall, Sheika, Mitchell) and the era following (Lacy, Bika, Kessler). To add cherries, he beat a still relevant several years on Hopkins and a resurgent but no where near prime RJJ

Very few fighters have done that and remained undefeated, he had an unorthodox style, got past terrible hand injuries, adapted in the ring and had unbelievable physical traits.

Why is it you never saw people bully/walk through/boss Calzaghe despite having weaker punches later in his career? Quite frankly, cause he could still bang when he needed to, especially to the body, that and the fact that he had considerable physical strength during clinches made it harder to do that to him.

Very few guys from 1994-2011 have even a chance against Calzaghe, in my view he decimates Toney, the shoulder roll doesn't really work against a fighter with quicker hands, great footwork and more importantly a south paw.

The only two fighters in the generation I think he has problems with is Hopkins, who has the perfect style and had the perfect style to beat Calzaghe in their first fight and Jones Jr, who in his absolute prime was as near unbeatable as any fighter has been to this point.
