43 year old Hopkins made Calzaghe look silly at times, what does prime Jones do.

Let's not overated a prime Roy Jones Jr. He was a spectacular talent, but he is hyped up to be something he's never been and that's unbeatable.

Joe Calzaghe would soundly be outboxed by Roy, but he wouldn't be stopped. Joe has a great heart, and a fairly decent chin. He'd land more on Roy than Roy is accustomed too, but everything Joe does, Roy did better.

I'll say Jones by Decision, though at 168, Jones was good enough I think to possibly stop Joe late provided he lands a big punch clean to start a flurrying finish.

edit: And by the way, if the fight were to go to a Decision it would be a wide one in favor of Jones. You just can't be too successful on someone who has so many advantages on you, some of which are advantages in Joe's strong points.

shouldnt even be debateable. i'll be honest. i havent seen a lot of the past great fighters b/c i'm fairly young (27 yrs old). but i listen to a lot of people talk about all the greats, etc... Growing up watching jones fight was amazing.

I just cant imagine anyone in history touching roy jones prime for prime. i'm not saying he is the GOAT b/c he didnt accomplish the most. But jones was on another planet as far as talent goes.

perhaps someone can fill me in on someone who would have beaten him.

anyways, getting back to the question at hand. Joe C would either get brutally KO'd or lose every round thoroughly.

again, i'm a young guy who is admittedly ignorant to anything older than late 80's boxing. i've seen a good bit of older fights. but i never saw anyone who i thought could beat a prime roy. who do you think would beat him?

Calzaghe main strategy against most opponents is to make them fight at a faster pace that they don't feel comfortable in, but against a prime Roy Jones that plays right into his hands, so Calzaghe strategy would be cancelled out because no fighter can out pace Roy in his prime, and Roy footwork would'nt allow Cal to get in a near 1000 punch output so Roy would just potshot Cal and go for the kill by the 9th round.

Even the most ardent Calzagay nuthugger would have to think twice about saying Slappy Hoe would even have a prayer against a prime RJJ. I've said it before, I'll say it again....JC is a poor man's RJJ.
