Roy Jones by UD. I think that JCs warrior heart will keep it competitive.

Some think of JCs prime, when he was physically prime, while one such as I, think that JC is prime now due to him being alot smarter without losing too much physical attribute.

Younger JC would have been lured in by Jones showboating, and would have lost somewhat big, maybe even knocked out - if that is possible.

Older JC would have made it very competitive, while losing due to lesser physical attrubutes.

Older JC would definately get knocked out by prime Roy. Everyone talks about Calzaghe's ability to adapt. However, it's east to adapt when you're facing basic straight up and down fighters and fighters without a plan b. Look at the Hopkins fight. Now Hopkins wasn't able to all the things he could when he was in his prime. However, he still had many of his subtle techniques. This gave Joe fits. Also, Hopkins was throwing pretty much the same punch over and over again and it still took Calzaghe about 5 rounds to adjust.

Roy has never fought like Hopkins, so your arguement isn't valid. Comparing Kessler to Roy isn't either. They fight differently. Calzaghe has never been KO'd.

And if I recall correctly, Mr. No Jaw has twice been one-punched startched, just like Lenny Lewis, right?

I never said Roy fights like Hopkins. I used Hopkins to illustrate the point that Calzaghe isn't as good at adapting to his opponents as people make him out to be. He would have a lot of adapting to do in there against prime Roy. And when did I compare Kessler to Roy? I never even mentioned Kessler. Prime Roy is clearly a much better and a more diverse fighter than Kessler, there's no need to even make that comparison. As far as Calzaghe never being KO'd, there's a first time for everything. We've seen him get hurt, we've seen him put on the canvas. No reason to believe he couldn't get stopped; especially against a supremely talented fighter like Jones.

So? When a fighter gets right back up - once instantly knocking out your opponent, the other winning decisively, it shows he has the chin, and determination to prevail.

Anyone can be knocked down - even the likes of Andrade.

Pathetic. Truly atrocious. Where to start?

You're taking a 36 year old Calz as an example of his supposedly not being able to adapt. Nice work. Then you're taking him at a higher weight than he has fought at his whole career. And then you're taking him against one of the cagiest fighters ever.

    Give me a break.

Calz doesn't get stopped, Roy does. We don't need a first time for that, Roy's ass has already been laid out twice on single blows.

In science there is a concept which basically says don't try to make explanations and theories more complex than they need to be.

If you've never seen a guy KO'd, don't try to imagine him getting KO'd because it's not likely to happen, especially when he's been fighting for over a decade. On the other hand, if you've seen a guy parked twice with a single shot then it's a good bet he's going to be the next Byron Mitchell LONG BEFORE the guy who's never been stopped is stopped by him.

You can't use one fighters ability to negate another offence to another fighter. Jones have never fought like this, and I am thankful that he hasn't.

Since the question was Roy vs Calzaghe, it's the fight I am giving my assessment to.

You tried to belittle Calzaghe effort in his fight vs Kessler. It was masterful to beat one of the best jabbers in boxing in his own game. This was mostly caused due to JCs smartness, not skillset.

That's funny considering the ******ed drivel that you have posted in this thread.

Hopkins threw the same punch over and over; the straight right hand. If Calzaghe is so great at adapting, how come it took him 5 rounds before he was able to avoid the punch? It's not like he was getting tagged with any other punch.

This is a prime for prime matchup. Jones was ko'd twice when he was in his mid 30's. His prime was from about 26-32. He wasn't close to being knocked out during that time.

I'm not making it complex. Prime Jones is better than Calzaghe in every phase of the game. He also was some good power. It's not hard at all to see Calzaghe getting stopped.

Jones had been fighting for 15 before he was KO'd.

Again, this is a prime for prime matchup. Jones was never ko'd in his prime, I don't even think he was ever hurt. He suffered 1 KD and wasn't even really hurt. I don't even know why I'm arguing with you. Judging by the complete non sense that you've already posted in this thread, it's clear that you don't know what you're talking about.

I don't know what you are missing?:p. I'll try to elaborate.

I am saying that anyone can be knocked down, ie due to not seeing the punch coming, missing his punch, while being hit flush. You can be knocked down due to this even if you have a great chin.

As evident in the past, JC has the determination and warriors heart to get back up, and with ferocious will get back in the game, and win it.

Summa summarum: Just because you have been KD'd doesnt necessarily mean you don't have a strong chin. Being KD'd twice in over 40 pro fights is nothing really.

That's not what I did. I used the Hopkins fight to illustrate Cazlaghe's weakness. That's totally legit in the context of this discussion.

I never even mentioned the Kessler fight. Furthermore, Kessler is an orthodox fighter. His jab is going to lose much of its effectiveness against a Southpaw. Calzaghe won that fight because he's a better fighter than Kessler. He's faster and more diverse. However, against Jones, he would not be the better fighter. Jones is better than him in pretty much every category. From what I saw in the Hopkins fight, Joe isn't even as smart as he's made out to be.

He seems to be a completely different fighter when he has to press the action and chase down his opponent. Roy could potshot the **** out of Joe from the outside. Eventually, Joe would probably start to press and that's where he would really get into trouble. Or, he could wait for Jones to come to him and just get picked apart. Either way he loses.
